Question: How to make yellow curry like in the restaurants? I have been trying to make yellow curry after falling in love with it at my local Thai restaurant but have not been able to make it as good. I am using Mae Ploy Yellow curry past and coconut milk as well as various vegetables and meats.
When I make it it just plain lacks the flavor of the yellow curry at the restaurant, and it's never quite as yellow. I use jasmine rice and have added lime leaves in the past.
What are some of your recipes/techniques for making really good yellow curry?
Answer: the ingredient that gives the golden yellow colour is tumeric, not actually knowing which specific TYPE of curry it is I can't really go into much detail beyond general stuff.
The distinctive curry taste comes from three main spices- turmeric, cumin and coriander. Thai curries usually are heavy on the lemongrass, ginger and kaffir lime as well. For heat you add chilli peppers, for creaminess add coconut CREAM, not milk. Cream will result in a fuller flavour than milk.
You don't NEED the curry paste- it's just a cheats shortcut and using it means you will never truly develop a curry flavour that is truly unique. I don't use it for my curries, I blend my spices to taste as I cook the dish.
Question: Night Blooming Jasmine? The leaves on my Jasmine are yellow on the ends. The new growth comes out all green though. It smells wonderful and is growing great. Should I be concerned about the yellow? I do water it everyday and it is in the ground so it doesn't sit in water.
Answer: Hi:
The Night Blooming Jasmine is a great fragrant evergreen that does well in full sun. It is moderately drought tolerant, so I would recommend to not water it everyday. The end of your leaves turning yellow could be a sign that the plant is getting too much water.
The Night Blooming Jasmine should be pruned after flowering and actually loves rich loom soil. See if watering maybe three to four times a week, might help the leaves. I will link you to the Tropics section of my website. There is a page on a regular Jasmine that you might get additional information. I hope this has helped some and good luck to you. Have a great day!

Question: What vines grow best in pots? I had Jasmine in the pots but they died. I would have planted them in the ground but I have six dog and all of them use my arbor as a toilet so I tried pots but the yellow jasmine just died. Any suggestions?
I live N. of Houston in Texas
Answer: I have passiflora's (passion flowers) and also a type of quince which is very vigorous. The passiflra has exotic looking flowers all summer and is evergreen. The quince is evergreen also and has small blue racemes in early summer. Both these are excellent for pots, but just nip down your local garden center and take a look, you''l be surprised at the choice.
Question: what can I do to help my jasmine plant? yellow (not dryed) with red spots in the middle? I have a star jasmine and as we have planted it in the ground it seems to be growing but the new growth have yellow and red spots instead of the waxy dark green leaves! What can I do to remedy this?
Answer: it sounds like your soil needs nutrients. get a good alround fertiliser that has trace elements such as dinamic lifter. it contains pot ash, magnesium and nitrogen.
Question: What is happening to my Stephanotis plant ( madgascar jasmine,Bridal wreath)plant? I have two , one is doing fabulous, growing blooming etc. The other one some leaves are turning yellow and getting black spots, and the tips of the vines are shrivelling, and the blooms are not developing just dropping off.
They are both in the same area and are treated equally .
What should I do.?
THE LEAVES ARE TURNING YELLOW WITH BLACK SPOTS, AND THEN DROPPING.
Answer: I never heard of jasmines getting black spot, like roses, but anything is possible. It sounds like black spot to me and here's what I do with the roses;
There are a number of herbicides on the market to eliminate black spot.
With roses it is a constant monitoring of the leaves, removing the spoiled ones immediately, and never letting the spoiled leaves remain on the ground under the bush. The leaves can be disposed of or buried. Black spot is airborne, needs very little moisture and lots of sunlight. I use an herbicide on the bark and branches, assuring an end to the black blight - for a short time because the air is the air.
Question: I have a Jasmine vine i planted against my fence? it is in the sun all day and will be in a humid climate all summer. Right now it has some yellow flowers on it in places.
How can i care for this plant to be certain it will spread across my fence and it will not die?
I mean how often should i be watering it?
The soil is rocky with sand further down.
I love this plant it is so wonderful and sure would look nice spread along the iron fence.
Answer: The Jasmine you write of is very hardy and will virtually look after itself. If any pruning needs to be done it is usual to do this after flowering. If you wanted to spread this more quickly along your fence, I would take a few un-flowered twigs from it and stick them in the soil along the fence as they will grow very easily in that way. The name of the plant is jasmine officialanis. Mine is in a very dry place against a wall. I never give it any fertiliser or water, but we do have quite a high rainfall in the West of UK. It flourishes almsot like a weed and I am always cutting it back.
Question: All plant leaves turning yellow except Bougainvillea.? Have small garden containing orange jasmine, gardinia, hibiscus and bouganvillea. Only the bougainvillea is doing well; the other plants, without exception possess yellow leaves and/or green leaves that are yellowing.
I live in central florida, zone 10.
Also possess a Lady of the Night that is doing well and was wondering if it would produce seeds by itself?
Answer: It could be an iron deficiency in the soil.
