Question: I'm making a powerpoint presentation on guinea pigs to convince my step-dad to let me get them..help w/ detail? Here's what I have so far: (this is just what I wrote not including decor and pics) TITLE SLIDE Slide 2: GUINEA PIG BACKGROUND Guinea pigs originate from South America. Even though they are not actual pigs, males are called “boars� ,and females “sows�. Females can weigh up to 1lb., males up to 2lbs. The three most common pet breeds of guinea pigs are: The Smooth-Coated, with short, glossy fur, the Abyssinian, with hair that grows in fluffy tufts all over the body, and the Peruvian, with long, silky hair to the ground. Guinea Pigs, otherwise known as “Cavies�, must be kept in pairs because they are social herd animals in the wild and can actually get depressed without someone else to “talk� to. “Guinea pigs make wonderful companions. These docile members of the rodent family rarely bite and are known for squeaking with delight when their favorite humans enter the room. I’m not going to lie, one reason I want them is that they are extremely cute! 2. Another reason I want them is that recently both of my pets that were just mine passed away. I loved them very much and was very sad and although I know you cannot replace animals, I want new ones to love in their place! 3. I also want them because out of all the possible pets I researched (puppy, kitten, etc.) I feel like I am the most ready (maturely and responsibly) for Guinea Pigs. 4. I am ready to take on this new responsibility because I am determined to do it and it will teach me good life lessons for the future. 5. Once I go to college I won’t be able to have my own pets for a long time, so I want to have the things I love the most while I still can. Slide 4: COST I know about, and am not avoiding the issue of cost. I have already contemplated it. Guinea Pigs can sometimes be pricey since they need veggies everyday, and toys and bedding and whatnot. Which is why, if I get Guinea Pigs, I am giving up all holiday presents from you for a whole year, and bringing it down to one good present for every holiday for the future years with my Guinea Pigs. That should cover everything considering I can use the holiday money I get from other people for some of the costs too. If this does not work for you we can negotiate it. Slide 5:FUN FACTS * Guinea Pigs’ teeth grow constantly so they need to continually wear them down by chewing on wooden chew sticks. * Guinea Pigs are the smartest of all rodents. They can be trained to do almost all of the same tricks as dogs. * A very happy and/or excited Guinea Pig will begin to “hop� up and down. This is called “Popcorning� in young ones. * Guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin C, just like us humans, so they need vitamin C tablets and/or one cup of fruits and veggies per day. Slide 6: OTHER NEEDS Three other needs of Guinea Pigs are brushing, bathing, and clipping. And by that I mean brushing their fur, bathing them, and clipping their nails. This does not have to be done that often however, and depends on the individual needs of your Guinea Pig. Slide 7: WORKING OUT THE KINKS I know there are some other issues. First of all, is when I go to my dad’s house. I have thought up some options. First of all, I could leave them here and Mom could take care of them (feed them two cups veggies, pet them), but I don’t think you guys would like that. Or, if I get enough money (which I don’t have enough, but like I said about the present deal), I could buy another cage, but just a cheap small-ish one to keep at my dad’s and use the carrier (in my supplies list) to transport them to my dads with me. (I like the second plan better.) Another issue is vacation, but since I would be getting two guinea pigs they would be fine (with the social interaction issue), but Jay would have to feed them veggies, and pet them, and stuff. Answer: wow! all I can say is if he says no, ask him why. If he gives a reason, give him an answer so he can't fight with it, if not, give a positive info about it.

Answer: Depends on the State, but here in Upstate NY where I am , you can expect to find them late summer, early fall. Same for Apples here and other fruits as well.

Question: What is a fair price for black cherry logs? (Georgia - woodworking)? We've just taken down a thirty-food black (wild) cherry tree in our backyard - about 10-12 inch diameter. I've offered it to a local woodworker, who has asked me what I want for it. Any suggestions?

Answer: if you know someone to figure the board feet in the log , i would charge him at least 3.00 a board ft....

Answer: when fruits become ripe, they let off cyanide. it's a plant hormone, it's simply how nature works they let off this hormone, because the glucose bonds within them are breaking, and getting weaker, so they let off the cyanude within their bonds

Answer: It's the pit not the actual fruit. Apple pits, peach pits etc etc all contain cyanide and if eaten in large amounts can make you ill. Apricot and peach pits are the easiest to extract cyanide from. ( it's actually the "Bitter almond: inside the pit). ( also look up "bitter almonds). Answer: I'm in California your addressing an international medium Charlotte where anyhow go check the dept of agriculture ask for cherry ranches or orchards also the nurseries and put an add in the local paper (S) KNOW a cherry tree by sight watch the neighborhood don't be afraid to ask to pick a tree (BUT be very careful not to hurt the tree)

Question: Cherry trim around doors and windows with black picture frames, what color do I paint the walls? I have no clue right now. My husband and I are a mid 20's couple living on a farm. Our house is an old farm house, which we are leasing, so nothing too wild. Question: who really likes WILD CHERRIES?? wild cherries are coming in around here, the little bitty black ones, not much bigger than a BB. I get a whole mouthful & scrunch them around, suck out the juice, swallow the seeds, chew on the pulp. I suppose they're an acquired taste, they're strong, slightly bitter and not too sweet, but I love 'em, can't get enough. If you eat a bunch, all those seeds will fill you up for practically zero calories too. I don't understand why they're not more popular; fine wine or stinky cheeses are acquired tastes too, and sell for a bunch of money; wild cherries are free and practically nobody wants to touch 'em.

Answer: Theres absolutely wrong with Wild Cherries! I would do the same thing since im a country girl. The fine cheeses are a contrast to the sweetness, like say for instance, cheese and crackers. The crackers are crunchy, salty, and buttery, the cheese only enhances the taste. The wine making, however, is just something they do. The wine is an exceptional because of the actual taste they get off of it, only thing that adds the tastes is the alcohol. I will agree the cherries are free, the reason no one ever wants to touch them is because they think somethings wrong with them, regardless of the color.

Question: Can black knot fungus on plum trees spread to cherries? We noticed last summer that our plum trees were getting struck by some kind of charcoal looking tumors; we've found out since then that this is black knot disease and that it's probably too late to save the trees. We're going to try, though, as long as it won't hurt our other plants. There are no other plums around, but we do have a domestic cherry and several wild cherries nearby that we want to protect. Can the disease spread to the cherries, or do cherries get a different form of the fungus? Thanks!

Question: What shall I do for starters? For main course there is going to be a baby leek and 3 (veggie ) cheese tart, served with baby golden crispy roast potatoes and creamed spinach, then for pud there's orchard crumble (apple, pear and plum) and custard or chocolate dipped black cherry cheesecake. Shall I do a soup (carrot and coriander) or a wild mushroom pate with melba toast and salad garnish to start, bearing in mind three of the six vegetarians are men!

Answer: Pate and melba toast.... My bloke doesnt do soup for a starter and I know that mainly old people usually do soup as a starter. It also helps as most men dont do well with soup and end up with most of it on their clothes..... hope my opinion helps....and good luck with the meal!
