I was thinking A but thiamin is the vitamin part of the coenzyme TTP (thiamin pyrophosphate) not pyrosulfate...right? But i was also thinking D since thiamin occupies a special site on the membranes of nerve cells.

My book doesn't give a clear answer on this one. Thanks.

After pyruvate enters Krebs, it loses a carbon as CO2, and thiamine pyrophosphate does appear to assist in this step.
Hope this helps :)
Question: What is the formula for thiamin hydrochloride?
Answer: its chemical formula is C12H17N4OS
Question: is thiamin good or bad for you? i looked at the back of a 1 gallon orange juice bottle and it said 10% thiamin...
Answer: Did you look up this ingredient at all, or just post your Q here willing to take your chances on incorrect info?
Thiamin is vitamin B1.
You need vitamin B1. It's an essential nutrient. Oranges and other foods contain vitamin B1.
The orange juice bottle probably gives 10% as the amount you get in a serving. So, 10 measured glasses = 100% of your MINIMUM daily requirement. Like all water soluable vitamins, vitamin B1 taken in excess will be excreted in your urine without long-term damage. It's merely wasteful to overdose on water soluable vitamins.

Has anyone got an explanation for this?
Answer: Because there is no profit in it. Most don't even know about the better versions of the vitamins! I checked out their site and all I have to say is WOW that is an expensive bunch of mess.

Question: B1 or Thiamin for Anxiety or Mosquitos? does any one know if thiamin helps relieve anxiety? my father bought some B vitamins to help keep the mosquitos away, even though garlic tablets worked a bit better, I researched the Thiamin which B1 vitamins are made out of.
I was wondering of anyone knows if B1 vitamins help reduce anxiety and if so, how does itwork and how much would one take?
if anyone knows anything about the mosquitos it would help too.
Answer: I don't think mosquitos are good for anxiety.
Vitamin's especially B vitamins are necessary for healthy nerve function, but most people get enough of it in their diet.
If you have continuous anxiety, more so than normal to where it is affecting your ability to function, look to your doctor and a prescription. Xanax is widely used for anxiety.
Question: Is Thiamin good for you? I usually eat Mini-Wheats for breakfast. On the front, it says there are lots of fiber and even more Thiamin. Also, under the Thiamin box, it says 90%, so I'm guessing there's a lot! Could someone please tell me if that's 90% good or bad?
Answer: Thiamine (Vitamin B 1) is watersoluble and good for energy production, brain function and digestion. It helps the body to use protein. Recommended is 1.5 mg (you get 90% of that in your Mini-Wheats), some nutritionists say 35 mg is optimal, you are far away from that. So there is no problem with the amount you are getting from your breakfast. And there can not be a toxicity anyway because Vit. B 1 is watersoluble so if your body does not use all you eat you just pee it out.

Question: URGENT!! I have 37 grams total. I have 6% Thiamin how do I figure out the number of grams of thiamin.? Then i would like to convert that number to milligrams!
Answer: 6% = 6/100
so, 6% of 37 grams = (6/100)*37 = 2.22 grams
now, 1 gram = 1000 miligrams
thus, 2.22 grams = 2.22 * 1000 = 2220 miligrams

Question: Why do govts see fit to tinker with our foods and add nutrients they see as lacking? to such staples as milk (eg DHA, reduce fat (but is good for you), other vitamins) and thiamin and omegas to bread and the like? Is it because they perceive we are deficient in these minerals, yet won't have the decency to limit and control the fast-food giants from preventing their unwanted spread throughout Australia and the US and internationally. Isn't that hypocritical?
Answer: Hi Daydreamer!
Not really! It is done to insure that what we here in America get is somewhat wholesome food, or otherwise the food industry would be serving us sawdust and colored water; well we're pretty close to that now. lol!
Capitalism and free enterprise is what governs the fast food giants; and it's tax dollars and job market are a shield against stiff regulations; though they even have standards that they must meet; if not, they'd also feed us all sawdust and colored water; well also we're pretty close to that now. lol!
Get my drift? You don't need a weatherman to tell you which way the wind blows.
Good luck young avenger, I pass the torch to you.
Only the young can change what we have tried to do.
