Siberian Ginseng
Question: why do I feel tired after taking Siberian Ginseng? I started taking Ginseng a few weeks ago , which is supposed to be enough time to get it to work, but I feel more and more tired and am exhausted when I get in from work. I then sleep for s few hours and wake up in middle of the night wide awake. I am up from 6 am in the morning getting back about 6 at night. Had all relevant medical tests done bloods thyroid etc but all come back normal.
Answer: I know of no proven health benefits from taking ginseng, so I suggest you stop taking it and see if you feel better. It shouldn't make you feel more tired... it shouldn't really make you fee more anything! Use the money you save on improving your diet or take a general multivitamin supplement.
Question: What are the positive effects of Siberian Ginseng Extract? Have you ever taken it? Does it do what it says? What are the side effects?
Answer: Hi Joe,
I have not taken Siberian Ginseng Extract, however, I have done a course in the subject of herbs.
The areas that it can help are list below
Brain Function, one of the most popular uses for Siberian ginseng is to improve memory. It has been used in Chinese medicine for many years for this purpose, among others. There have been multiple studies, which demonstrate improved cognitive function in people who supplemented with Siberian ginseng. Perhaps for this reason, it is one of the supplements currently being considered as a way to help Alzheimer's patients make cognitive improvements
Immune System, a 2001 study clearly shows that Siberian ginseng extract inhibited the replication of several different viruses under laboratory conditions. The viruses studied were human rhinovirus (HRV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza A. This evidence strongly suggests that Siberian ginseng may be a way to decrease symptoms from colds and flu. Siberian ginseng has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect, making it useful to some individuals in the treatment of arthritis.
Energy Level, the Chinese also used Siberian ginseng to help boost energy levels. These days, people use it to improve physical stamina, both during sports and for everyday activities. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Siberian ginseng may also help alleviate some of the energy problems associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Dosage and Side Effects, the dosage of Siberian ginseng dependent on your body chemistry and the reason you are supplementing. Many people start out by taking 500 milligrams of the powdered root in capsule form, and may increase the dosage if their body tolerates it. Because Siberian ginseng has energy producing properties, it can cause nervousness and insomnia in some individuals. It should also be taken in the morning, when its energizing effects will be welcome.
In addition to nervousness and insomnia, possible side effects include high blood pressure, irregular heart rate and headache. For this reason, individuals who begin supplementing with Siberian ginseng should start at low doses. Siberian ginseng, can have an additive effect and should not be taken with that medication.

For general health: Take a multi-vitamin everyday.
Also, take 2 baby aspirin a day...it is true about them preventing clots and strokes.
Question: Is siberian ginseng good for adrenal fatigue? Has anyone tried it for adrenal fatigue?
i really need a supplement that gives me energy,
and allows me to lose weight,
cause at the moment it's almost inpossible!
comments please x
no i am fatigued because i have adrenal fatigue, not because of being overweight :S
Answer: MD's typically do not recognize "adrenal fatigue" until it reaches frank pathology as Addison's disease (which can and does happen, though infrequently.) Although it is not a frank pathology, "adrenal fatigue" is a term coined to describe dysregulation of the diurnal rhythm of cortisol secretion. This dysregulation is objectively identifiable and the physiologic changes that result have a characteristic set of symptoms.
There is a lot of room for prevention between sub-optimal function or dysregulation of systems and frank pathology. "Adrenal fatigue" falls within this gap.
Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosis) is a fantastic adaptogenic herb to help treat adrenal fatigue! It's not a true ginseng and can be used over the long term (though not recommended during acute infections and there's some caution for patients with cardiovascular disorders.) Typically, I use this herb in combination with a B5/B6 supplement and potentially with a few other herbs such as Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) and Schissandra chinensis (Schissandra.)
Most importantly, when treating adrenal fatigue one has to correct the lifestyle and diet issues that created the problem to begin with, or you're sort of "chasing symtoms" indefinitely.
- A healthy diet, rich in fruits and veggies with regular meals and sufficient protein to stabilize blood sugars is important factor #1.
- Sufficient, restorative sleep is #2.
- Our bodies like routines. Eat and sleep on a regular schedule and your adrenals will thank you.
- Stress relief in whatever form works for you - laughter, creative expressionism, journaling, meditation, sex, whatever floats your boat. Enjoy it often. That's #3.
- Regular exercise is part of #3, but it's worth of mention again. In fact, it gets it's own number! You dont have to hit the gym, but play a sport, go for a walk, jump rope. Move your body - that's #4.
Good luck!
Question: Is it safe for teenagers to take siberian ginseng? not little kids but teenagers
I heard it calms nerves like anxiety and i get anxious doing presentations and such
Answer: Hm. Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosis) is an adaptogenic herb. It should be used with caution in persons with cardiovascular disease... but otherwise there is no toxicity associated with this herb.
"Safety" is relative, though... pretty much any herb can be dangerous if it's misused (even if the danger is only that proper treatment is not administered.) So I'm curious to know why you're taking it?
----------------------
It might have some mild effect for "calming nerves"... public speaking causes anxiety for lots of people! Not necessarily something I'd "medicate" on an on-going basis. Some better options would be:
- Try a cup of chamomile tea 15 min. before you start.
- Smelling lavender essential oil is very calming for lots of people.
- Lots of people find Bach flower "Rescue Remedy" to be a lifesaver before nerve wracking events (exams, first dates, public speaking, etc.)
Good luck with your upcoming presentation! :)
Question: Is the herb Siberian ginseng good for stress?
Answer: No no no Hun If anything it can increase anxiety.
Use a low dosage of st Johns wort works wonders by suppressing the stress emotions.
Hope that helped
Question: What’s the use of Siberian Ginseng? What’s the use of Siberian Ginseng? How long does it take to make the actions in the body? (took as pills = 650 mg = Pill)
And what’s the best time of the day to take it?
Before meal or after?
Answer: Ginseng (Ginsana®) is a dietary supplement (herbal remedy) Siberian Ginseng is a medicinal herb used primarily for increased stamina and for boosting the immune system and immune system responses. It is used to help relieve fatigue and declining capacity to work. It is thought to help improve memory; concentration, and increase longevity. It has been considered especially helpful for those experiencing stress or stressful situations and has a reputation in traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for insomnia. There have also been some cases where it has been utilized to help combat radiation sickness and exposure to toxic chemicals.
Take Siberian Ginseng capsules or tablets by mouth. Swallow the capsules with a large drink of water. For the best bioavailability and if you have a sensitive stomach, it is often recommended that you take Siberian Ginseng as a tincture, infusion, tea, or the raw herb chewed. You can take ginseng with or without food. It is generally thought that Siberian Ginseng can be taken for a longer period of time than Panex Ginseng. Still, as with Panax, breaks in usage that last two to three weeks should be included in any long term regime
Question: Why was the name "Siberian Ginseng" banned by the US in 2002?
Answer: Its not actually in the same family as real ginseng so it was considered false advertising to call it that. Siberian Ginseng/eleuthero is a totally different type of plant.
Question: Is there anything that makes it inadvisable to combine taking St Johns Wort with Siberian Ginseng long term?
Answer: You should be cautious with these herbs. St John's Wort, especially, is quite powerful; I'd advise that you don't combine it with either other herbs, or conventional medicines, until you've asked both your herbalist and also your regular doctor.
In particular, St John's Wort should never be taken at the same time as any anti depressant medication.
Question: has anyone tried siberian ginseng for stress? and if so, how long did it take to work? how much did you take? i tried it for a couple days and i think it was making me anxious...but im not sure. i might hvae been anxious anyway.
Answer: I tried it and found no positive/negative effect at all.
I checked it out on the net. Siberian Ginseng is actually not ginseng at all but in horticulture terms is a 'distant' cousin to the Oriental ones.
All forms of ginseng are said to aid in reducing stress, improving vitality and boosting the immune system. Oriental ginseng, whether white or red, is often taken as a daily tonic with the added benefit of an energy boost.
Korean Ginseng has been said to be the best due to the inclusion of 'Panax' - a little wrong because traditional Chinese Ginseng has this as well.
Question: is it safe to take 2g of siberian ginseng everyday?
Answer: Yes, that's perfectly safe. Most of the supplements of the Eleuthero Root (Siberian Ginseng) specifically recommend 800-3,800 mg per day (spread out throughout the day, of course). Good luck!
Question: Green Tea with Siberian Ginseng? Does anyone know the facts about this tea. On the package it says "A lift without the caffeine." I do get that lift, but if one were to stay away from caffeine, would this substitute "ginseng tea" be one to stay away from as well?
Answer: Ginseng and caffeine aren't the same it depends on why you want to stay away from caffeine i guess. caffeine is a diuretic which means it will make you have to pee more and it could dehydrate you. so ginseng will not do that. but if you don't want caffeine because you don't want the extra energy then maybe you should stay away from ginseng.
Question: What Ginseng out of Koren,American or Siberian ?Should My BF take? My Boyfreind is going to Afghanistan and is wondering wich ginseng is right for him and ive seen products with all 3 in thre Koren,American,Siberian
Answer: It entirely depends on what benefits he's looking to get. Korean Ginseng is better for mental performance and mental stress, plus can have some benefits for circulation. American Ginseng is more for physical and mental energy. Siberian Ginseng more for mental and physical stress as well as mental and physical stamina. They all help with general stress, but those benefits are the added aspects that many people look at when deciding which to get. Good luck and I hope I helped!
Question: Is Siberian Ginseng healthy?
Answer: it is a natural product found in china and other countries and it is supposed to enhance immunity of the body,is anti-oxidant and anti aging there is no harm in taking it regularly many scientific studies have confiremed it's effects
Question: help siberian ginseng??? plz? it says take 1 three time daily
does that mean i can take the 3 together?
or do i HAVE to take them at 3 different times?
Answer: It's better to have them at three different times to keep your body on an even keel, if that makes sense. Even two together in the morning and one later might be ok, but don't take all three at once.
Question: i am looking herbs benifits, for yohimbe bark p e,ginkgo biloba p e,siberian ginseng p e,horny goat weed p e, i want to know the benifits of these herbs and side effect if any,and what is the dose of each herbs ,which herbs can mix each others and what is the effect on humen body after use these herbs ,if there is any ramedy is available .
Answer: just the formulation of your question reveals that the very concept is null and void from the very beginning.
So knock it off. You cannot get to anywhere with this logic.
Question: Is it ok to mix herbal supplements? I recently started taking herbal supplements for energy, mental alertness, and overall health.
I take 500 mg Maca Root, Multivitamin, and I recently bought Siberian Ginseng caplets (250 mg) to take, and I want to try Omega 3-6-9 pills as well.
Is it ok to mix all these supplements? Should I take some in the morning and some before bed?
I also take tricyclen lo.
Answer: Have you researched these at all?
Ginseng will do nothing for you except maybe give you a terrible case of acne.
A multivitamin is completely unnecessary unless you're training to be an Olympic athlete or you have the world's worst diet.
Omega 3-6-9’s are also not necessary in large amounts and have been linked adverse side effects when taken in large amounts. You’re better off eating tuna.
So no, I would not mix them.
Question: Does anyone else have mild hypothyroid and difficulty conceiving? I live in the UK, where Gps refuse to treat hypothyroid with TSH levels lower than 10. When tested, my TSH levels were 5.05 (mid January) and 4.95 (mid February). They would have considered treating had my second tested TSH stayed above 5.
I've had every symptom going for hypothyroid for the last 3 years: cold all the time, inactive, low bbt (generally below 36C for around 18 months, with post-ovulatory "highs" of up 36.3C, when I'd feel almost normal again).
Since learning that my thyroid was a little underactive a few months ago, I've been taking vitamins and supplements (multi Bs, fish oils, cranberry extract, and Siberian Ginseng), and feel A LOT better- pre ovulation temperature has risen to 36.3-36.5.
But. Still no baby, despite trying for 4 years.
Has anybody else been in this situation, and how did you resolve it? Also, what is your experience treatment in your various places (how wonderful it is to be able to ask people all over the world a question!)
And has anyone else out been told their TSH level should be below 2 during their pregnancy? My endocrinologist told me ideally it should be between 1 and 2 to prevent potential neurological delay, and then recommended not treating. Did any of you ladies with treated hypothyroidism have to get your TSH levels below 2 before falling pregnant? And was your doctor really alert to your TSH, T3 and T4 levels during pregnancy?
Answer: I went through the same thing, I was trying to conceive for about a year and went to the Dr's they checked my thyroid and said it was underactive but didn't do anything. So I waited on my next check up which was about 4 months later I went to a different doctor she said that it was underactive and started me on synthroid. I started taking synthroid the lowest dose and about 6-8 months later I finally got pregnant. I think I just had to take it a couple of months to get it straighten out.
