Sage Of The Seers

Question: What can you tell me about Marc Bolan's early work (more) ? . What are these albums like ? What would you compare them too (if comparable) ? Do you like them ? As Tyrannosaurus Rex My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows (1968) Prophets, Seers & Sages – The Angels of the Ages (1968) Unicorn (1969) A Beard of Stars (1970) Thanks :) .

Answer: I think these albums are all great. They all have the feeling of some type of mystic psychedelic folk rock albums. Marc was really influenced by the thought of himself a wizard. This is the type of music you would hear walking through an enchanted forest. They have comparable similarities to some of Donovan's work like HMS Donovan, but that some what of a stretch. I think they all have something of their own, which isn't comparable to a lot that was out there. I like them a lot they're really cool albums, A Beard of Stars is my favorite followed by Unicorn. I think Unicorn is a pretty revolutionary album that is rarely ever looked into...especially in these days. It's not like Revolver revolutionary, but it adds its own touch to the word. If you want to get into some really earl Marc Bolan music listen to his early folk songs, back when he wanted to be just like Bob Dylan before he "discovered" Marc Bolan or his brief but exceptional work in John's Children.
