Pregnancy Hormone
Question: How long does it take for the pregnancy hormone to show in urine? I'm 6 days late. I have never been late before, normally have a 29 day cycle. I tested after being 1 day late - negative. Then tested after being 5 days late in the morning, however I don't think I did the test correctly as I should have dipped the tester stick in the urine. Result was negative.
My breasts are bigger, not tender really. My stomach is bloated and I have slight cramping. I feel more tired than usual lately too. I think I may be pregnant. When should I test again and how long can it take before the pregnancy hormone shows in urine?
Answer: 98% of the pregnancy tests are positive 15+ days after ovulation.
Question: How long does the pregnancy hormone stay in your body? I had my son on May 24th, I have been breastfeeding, I took a pregnancy test this morning. It was positive. How long would the hormone bring out a false positive, or am I pregnant again?
Answer: Pretty sure it goes away very shortly after birth. I seriously doubt it would still be in your system this long after.
Did you have unprotected sex soon after your sons birth? Because you know youre REALLY fertile after birth which is another reason Doctors suggest waiting several weeks to have sex (along with giving your lady-parts time to heal). I would talk to your OB.
False positives are VERY rare soo I would say youre probably pregnant with number two!
Congrats if you are!
Question: How long after the egg gets fertilized will a pregnancy test detect the pregnancy hormone? Does anyone have an estimate or exact time of how long after conception a pregnancy test will detect whatever the pregnancy hormone is in your urine?
Answer: Funny, I just looked into this topic this morning! First Response Early Result is supposed to be the best one according to consumer research. The test states that a pregnancy could be detected even before a missed period, depending on how much pregnancy hormone your body has produced. They recommend purchasing the 2 pack. You could test now and then re-test 7 days later.

Question: How long does it take the pregnancy hormone to get out of your system? How long does it take for the pregnancy hormone to get out of your system if you miscarried at 5 weeks?
Is 2 months plenty of time?
Answer: Two months is plenty of time.
Once you miscarry or deliver, the hormone starts dropping considerably.
Question: After a tubal pregnancy surgery, how long will the HCG hormone stay in your body? How long does it takes for the pregnancy hormone to leave your body? I just had an ectopic tubal pregnancy and had surgery yesterday. If I take a pregnancy test today, will it come back positive or negative?
Gem, obviously you dont know the answer to the question so dont try to answer it.
Answer: There will probably be trace amounts of hCG in your blood (and urine) for about 3-5 days, but maybe as long as a week. It takes time for your body to stop producing the hormone and to flush it from your system. So if you took a test today, it may still come back positive.
Question: Can cervical cancer prevent the pregnancy hormone from showing up on a pregnancy test? Pretty much can the cervical cancer or HPV make a pregnancy test be negative? I know the preg. test picks up the hormone to show it positive if your preg. but can the cancer alter the results?
Answer: I have HPV, and my pregnancy tests came up positive right as soon as I missed my period. Cancer won't alter the results either, if you're pregnant and your body creates the hormone, the cancer won't block it out.
Question: How long does it take for the pregnancy hormone levels in your blood to go back to normal? I gave birth 6 weeks ago. My concern is that i may be pregnant again, but i am wondering if i have blood taken, if it shows pregnancy, that it will be from the previous pregnancy. If that is correct i would have to go back in a few days to see if the number has gone up or down?? So has the pregnancy hormone level gone down to zero yet or is it still up there? Thanks for any answers
Answer: The best way to know is when your postpartum bleeding has stopped wait until you get your next period. Then your HCG should be back to normal. If you are nursing you may not get a period for a while. At that point just wait about a month after you are finished with postpartum bleeding then you'll be back to normal.
Question: Will the pregnancy hormone only show up in a test after the egg is implanted? I think I might be pregnant but all my tests have been negative...I'm starting to feel alittle more out of the normal.
Then it just hit me, the pregnancy hormone wont show up till after the egg is implanted right?
And it takes anywehre from 9-14 days?
i ask this because I had my period, only it was not normal, it stopped and started and was mostly brownish....I do have reason to believe im pregnant and have somethings happening with me that dont feel quite right.
Answer: Yes, some say they can have results after a week, but I think it takes about 2 weeks after......The woman already has the egg implanted...unless it's invetro fertilizaiton...but that's a different sotry.
Question: Is it normal for you pregnancy hormone to decrease? I'm 13 weeks into my first pregnancy and everything seems to be going fine. I've been taking blood tests every week but my hormone keeps decreasing little by little. The doctor's cant find anything that might be triggering the hormone loss and i'm just wondering if I should be worried about miscarriage.
Answer: My cousin had low levels of hCG with both of her pregnancies. With her first son she didn't have a positive urine test until she was three months along due to low levels of hCG and with her second son she was 2 1/2 months along (but blood tests with both confirmed she was). She didn't suffer any problems from the low hCG at all. The level of the hormone goes up and up throughout the pregnancy - try not to worry, I'm sure you (and your baby) will be just fine. Here is a website I just found with a little info on hCG...

Answer: I was 4 months along before I got a postive on a hp test.My dr had to do a blood test and u/s to confirm.I was also considered high risk because my hormone levels were so low.I now have 2 healthy children 7 and 4.
Question: Can the pregnancy hormone Hcg fluctuate after a miscarriage? I had a miscarriage 5 weeks ago. I had a negative pregnancy test last week, but have had positive tests all week. Is it possible that the tests are picking up the hormone after the negative tests or might I be pregnant again?
Answer: Yes, your hCG levels will diminish, but I have heard that it is easy to get pregnant after a miscarriage (not for me) but I have heard this not sure how true it is.
Question: Is it true that some women dont produce the pregnancy hormone when pregnant? i've heard that some women dont produce the pregnancy hormone when pregnant in the first few weeks and so when they take a preg test its neg. Is this true? i dont think it is but my friend insists it is.
Answer: no
Question: Is there a test I can do at home to check my pregnancy hormone levels? I am having a confusing pregnancy. I may be miscarrying or ectopic, or I may just be too early to see a heartbeat. Is there any way that I can check my hormone levels on my own to see if they're where they should be? I am going in for another ultrasound next Wednesday, but I am having a really hard time waiting. If there is, how much is it, where is it, etc? And also, will it tell me what level I should be at? Thank you all.
Answer: Yep, it is called an EPT
Question: Can a pregnancy hormone remain in a woman's body after a miscarriage even after she's had her next period? The girlfriend of my boyfriend's friend had claimed to be pregnant 1.5 weeks after missing her period, only 2 months after having a miscarriage. After a pregnancy test proving otherwise, she claimed that the first test was positive because of a hormone that stayed in her body after the miscarriage. I think she's full of crap. But I'm curious how possible this scenario would be.
Answer: Pregnancy hormones do stay in a woman's body for some time after a miscarriage. If this woman had a miscarriage, she could have ovulated as soon as 2 weeks from the date of miscarriage. Meaning, she would have had a positive pregnancy test 4 weeks from the date of miscarriage.
It can take time for her body to regulate again and start having a normal cycle, especially if she was well into her first trimester. The longer a woman is pregnant, the more hCG - pregnancy hormone - is in her body and the longer it takes for her body to rid itself of the hormone.
So, in short, yes, the pregnancy hormone could have theoretically been in her urine when she tested after having a miscarriage. However, I'm not certain it would have been detectable at 2 months beyond a miscarriage.
Question: If my pregnancy blood hormone levels were at 92 what would they be 5 days later? Dr said there doubling every 2 days and the first one was at 92. So the question is what is my pregnancy hormone levels at?
Answer: Right around 552
Question: Do common housepets emit a pregnancy hormone in their urine? I was wondering if common housepets (dogs and cats mostly) emit a specific hormone in their urine while pregnant?
Us humans emit hCG while pregnant. What kind of hormones does a dog or cat emit? How come there are no home pregnancy tests for dogs or cats?
Thanks!
Answer: This information is from a Veterinary Handbook and may help with your question:
Canine Pregnancy Test - Relaxin
Non-pregnant bitches have significant levels of progesterone as part of their normal cycle (metoestrus), therefore progesterone alone cannot be used as a canine pregnancy test.
Relaxin is very specific to pregnancy and so can be used as an accurate pregnancy test. Following conception relaxin rises to detectable levels from about 21 - 28 days. It is advisable to take blood samples at around 28 days post mating as this will allow for the difference in conception dates. Small litter size (=<3) may result in false negative results.
Sample required is 0.5mL HEPARIN plasma (EDTA plasma MUST NOT be used).
Feline Pregnancy
There is no specific pregnancy test for cats. Progesterone may be analysed but this will only indicate if the cat is non-pregnant (Progesterone <3.0 nmol/L).
Question: Is there any way to tell if the pregnancy hormone HGC is in your urine without buying a home pregnancy test? Can I put vinegar or something in my urine to see if I have the pregnancy hormone in my urine. I'm 2 weeks late. I'm 19 and I want to find out if I am pregnant before my parents do because they are going to flip out.
Answer: Urine tests use monoclonal antibodies to test for HCG. Most pregnancy sticks have two lines, one is a control line which you will see whether you are pregnant or not, the other line contains the monoclonal antibodies. If there is hCG present in your urine, when it soaks the stick the hCG will react with the monoclonal antibodies, causing a color change that will make the second line appear.
Most tests will detect levels of hCG 25 to 50mIU/ml in your urine. These tests are good for when your period is a day overdue.
Examples:
Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Inverness, Target, Boots, Family Dollar, First Response, Drug Emporium
Some doctors, family planning clinics and young people's services offer free tests, as do some pharmacies, British Pregnancy Advisory Service and Marie Stopes International clinics.
Good luck
Question: When does the pregnancy hormone leave the system after a miscarriage? I was pregnant around 3 weeks ago and had a miscarriage and d & c 3 weeks ago. I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend since and haven't had a period. I did a pregnancy test lastnight which was positive.
Is this still the hormones from the last pregnancy or am I pregnant again? Also I have been feeling very hungry lately too.
Answer: It depends how far along you were and the level of hormones, but it can take a few weeks to get out of your system.
Question: if my hormone level is 450 from a blood test how far along am I in my pregnancy? I have a period about three times a year if the doctor detected the pregnancy hormone at 450 how far along am i?
Answer: You're probably right around 3-4 weeks, if that.
