Question: Green powdered Stevia? Hi, I recently got hold of some Stevia (125g) and was wondering what I could use it for. I can't dissolve this stuff, I tried in boiling water and it made it's way to the bottom.
Is there a way I can dissolve it or are there some good uses?
BTW I've used like 1/8 - 1/4 of a teaspoon. Too much or less to a cup?
Answer: I use it in my oatmeal in place of regular sugar, but really you can use it in place of pretty much anything that calls for sugar, such as: coffee, cold drinks, and modified recipes you can find simply by typing in "Stevia recipes" in google. Just make you that you don't use too much, as 1/4 tsp. of Stevia = 1 tsp. refined sugar. Using too much can also leave a bit of an aftertaste in your mouth.
Good luck!

Question: How much Stevia should I take each day & how? Now I use the small "single serve" packs in coffee & green tea so about 2 to 4 paks per day. I'm 5'10" 210lbs & 43yo. I do Muay Thai 3 days a week & cannot lose body fat. Any suggestions?
Answer: Stevia is a natural sugar substitute it is not a weight loss product. you use it for taste-like that's not sweet enough,I'll use two packets instead of one.
drink plenty of water,no sodas,no jamba juices or smoothies, and if you count calories ,overeat by 500 calories every nine days-to trick your body and prevent platueau.(you know you lose weight then just stop, and cant lose anymore.)
Question: How much Stevia do I need to take each day & how? Now I use the small "single serve" packs in coffee & green tea so about 2 to 4 paks per day. I'm 5'10" 210lbs & 43yo. I do Muay Thai 3 days a week & cannot lose body fat. Any suggestions?
Answer: How much do you NEED?? No one NEEDS Stevia- it's a sweetener or supplement, not a necessary nutrient. If I were you, I would cut back on it and try drinking your tea straight. As for your diet and weight loss, try posting this in the diet section, not the alternative medicine section :)
Question: Opinion on Green Tea Diet? So I was just wondering everyone's opinion on green tea diets. The woman I work with wants to try one, and I figured why not join her. This one man who used it lost a ton of weight. He used Wisdom of the Ancient Green Tea with Stevia, I think he said that's an all natural sweetener.
Have you heard anything on that or other brands? Can you just drink normal green tea, maybe minus sugar or something? I love green tea, but is there any long term effects or anything from using this. I mean more than a normal 1-2 cup a day.
I understand you also need to adjust your diet/excercise routine, but just wanted a wider range of opinions on this than just one man. So, what are some positives and negatives? Thanks so much for your help. I probably didn't word this question very well. Lol.

Answer: I heard about green tea helping you lose weight so when I was ready to lose I started drinking 2-4 20oz cups of green tea a day (absolutely no sugar or sweeteners). I have lost 30 pounds and am thrilled. Drinking green tea isn't the only thing you have to change though. I eat oatmeal for breakfast (instant), a lean cuisine and a yogurt for lunch and a small or healthy dinner (or no dinner at all frequently). I changed the whole way I ate and that helped me lose weight, it wasn't just the green tea though I think it helped.
Question: green tea help lose weight? does green tea really help you lose weight?
and is it okay to mix stevia in it?
how many cups of green tea should i drink a day to see results?
will it help me burn more calories?
Answer: Yes you can lose weight drinking green tea. It should not be the only thing you do for losing weight. There are several types of green tea, primarily Sencha and Gyokuro. The difference between the two lies in the way they are grown. Sencha is a higher grade tea grown in full sun; Gyokuro is grown in full shade. You want to do 6 cups a day. I don't know about stevia though. This article was very useful to me when deciding to use green tea as part of my diet. I hope you find it useful as well.

Question: Best tasting hot/iced decaf. green tea? 1. What is the best tasting hot or iced decaf. green tea?
2. Where can I buy it (in stores or on internet) ?
3. What is the best way to prepare it ?
Currently my favorite is "Tazo Zen Green Tea and Herbal Fusion", bought in a box of 20 individual packets at Kroger stores in southeastern USA. I use it for hot and iced teas, sweeten with powdered Stevia or honey.
Answer: I like the Republic of Tea's decaf Wild Berry Plum tea. It can be bought from their website or at Cost Plus World Market.
For hot tea, pour a cup of almost-boiling water over the teabag, and brew for two minutes. Sweeten as desired, but it's already got some sweetness to it.
For iced tea, brew three teabags in almost-boiling water for three minutes, then pour the tea into a pitcher full of cold water. Serve over ice. Sweeten as desired.
For supermarket tea, Salada makes a decent plain green decaf tea, and it's naturally decaffeinated.
Question: Right now during recession would be a perfect time to diet? If you eat mostly your green vegetables, salad mixes (use vinegar only and seasonings)and cabbages, have a correct portion of protein with your meals no fat. Drink only water, tea and coffee no sugary drinks or splenda (use stevia) perfect opportunity to get healthy and get rid of all thebad stuff in our systems!Dont forget your vitamins
Part of my point being, your grocery bill will be cut in half!!
Answer: err...cut out the coffee, and drink the tea in healthy sane proportions not all day long. .
and exercise. run/jog/walk for 2 miles a day and work your way up till your running 10k in hour 5 days a week or more.
Question: Stevia powder in my cup of tea? I recently bought a packet of Stevia powder online to try as a sweetner. When the packet came it was a a sort of green powder. So I added a small amount to my usual tea with milk and stirred. After doing this there were lot's of green flecks in my tea floating on the top and when I tasted it it wasn't very nice at all infact it tasted a lot like regular artificial sweetners which I hate. I am quite dissapointed as I was really hoping to wean myself off sugar and thought this might help but it seems nothing really tastes like sugar but sugar.
Have you any advice? Did I get the wrong kind or am I using it wrong?
Thanks!
Answer: Hi!
I agree the powder is horrible. The liquid form of stevia tastes great in liquid. Sweet leaf brand.
Have a sweet day!
I know .....I am addicted to sugar....it's tough.
Question: Do i drink TOO much green tea? I drink around 5-6 cups a day.
Especially in the last week because i've been sick, and in the past month i've been trying to lose weight.
I have it with sweetener (stevia) rather than sugar.
Is it too much, and is it detrimental in any way?
Thanks.
OH!
BQ: What's your favourite hot beverage? Say hot chocolate, lemon tea etc.
Peace(:
Answer: As far as I know, green tea is good for the health. Now 5 to 6 cups daily is Ok. My favorite hot beverage is coffee.
Question: Did you ever actually experiment with green tea? Don't touch that dial. Listen. I'm a devout coffee connoisseur. I have an espresso machine in my kitchen with offerings and incense ash in front of it. I always thought green tea was, well, "Weenie". I read so much stuff from Phd. types and such about the amazing virtues of this stuff I thought, "Why not? I did acid and ludes and god knows what and survived. Green tea is ridiculously stupid, give it a shot."
It works. ( Is my face red.) I actually look forward to getting a cup in during the day whenever I can. It just makes me feel good physically and emotionally. Go figure. My recommendation is drink it straight with no milk or cream. For sweetener use Stevia. Go ahead and laugh at me till you give this stuff a shot You need minimum three cups a day and you can see it in your face in the mirror in the morning. Amazing.
The stuff works. An old girlfriend of mine told me one of the ways she survives her alcoholism is to brew up a big keg of triple strength green tea and drink it to clean her system out during dry outs.
How do you like them apples?
Answer: I like "them" apples a lot. Green tea has not always been my "cup of tea" since I love my morning coffee. But, one cannot ignore the numerous health benefits of green tea. From a health standpoint, it is actually better if you don't add milk or cream. As to the sweetener, Stevia, you might want to consider using raw sugar instead of a food additive. Better still, try a pinch of lemon and a teaspoon of honey, and receive even more health benefits.
Green tea is also great for weight management. It's a natural diuretic.
Good for you for being open-minded and health conscious.
Question: What do you put in your green smoothies? Today my son's lemon balm plants were looking so healthy and fresh and I threw in a handful, and it was so freakin' good, especially with the banana flavor. I'm going to use more lemon balm.
I usually take the "throw in whatever I have" approach, I get whatever looks great at the produce stand or whatever is on sale at the grocery store, and I buy frozen fruit in bulk, but I like new ideas so they don't get boring.
My recipe today was (served 3 in big 16 oz tumblers):
1 cup pomegranite cranberry juice
2 handful's of raw kale
1/2 bag of raw spinach
1 banana
about 3 or 4 stevia leaves (garden fresh)
handful of lemon balm leaves (garden fresh)
3 big spoonfuls of mixed frozen fruit (peaches, strawberries & pineapple).
It was a little thick and I ran out of pomegranite juice so I threw in a splash of orange juice to thin it out.
Do you make green smoothies and what do you put into it?
Have you ever used carrots and how to you add them without killing your blender?
(I have a decent blender, 600 watts, but it's not exactly "industrial strength" and I don't want to kill it)
I thought of that, but you lose so much of the carrot's nutrients when you used processed packaged juices it's not worth it, and I don't have or plan to get a juicer so I'm hoping there is a trick. I've also thought about adding babyfood "carrot puree"- or par-boiling them to soften them.
Answer: Any green vegie will make it green. As for carrots, you should probably buy carrot juice instead of raw carrots.
Question: i am was just looking to buy stevia powder on ebay...a natural sugar replacement.? i notice some is white in colour and some green. whats the difference. is there any heath difference or taste difference one over the other.
thanks for your attention
Answer: I've used it for years. It's great and natural. It's been used for centuries as a natural sweetener. I'd take my chances on the Stevia over any of the chemically synthesized offerings out there.
Read the article below for some good info. The links on that site offer 1000 packs of Nu-Naturals brand for like $37 from Amazon with free shipping. I don't know if ebay is cheaper.
The unrefined version is not as sweet, takes more for the same effect, and sometimes has a licorice taste to it. I prefer the white powder versions.
Question: Do you have a simple low-calorie green bean recipe you can share? The so-called low calorie recipes I've been finding on the internet are not low-calorie at all, or they require too many ingredients. I'm looking for 100 calories or less per serving. I'm serving other dishes that will be considerably higher in calories. Trying to keep the meal at 500 calories or less and I don't want my vegetables to be as high in calories as the entree.
1) Must not have any added fat (butter or margarine, bacon, oils) Exception is olive oil.
2) Must not have any sugar. I can however, use Stevia or Splenda.
3) Must require only simple everyday ingredients. I have the basics like garlic, onion, tomatoes, and other herbs and spices.
Answer: I make one using fresh green beans, garlic, mushrooms and olive oil.
I saute the mushrooms in olive oil till soft, boil the green beans till tender and them and the garlic to the mushrooms and cook down a little more.
Question: Question about the raw food diet plan? I'm doing a 5 day fast of nothing but water and green tea, and then after I'll only have raw fruits and veggies with roasted unsalted nuts, green tea and fresh fruit and veg juice. Has anyone else done this diet? From what I've read it's healthy, fast, and something I can do potentially for the rest of my life, and I'm not looking to get talked out of it. I just want to hear other peoples experiences with it. Also, I know I'm going to cheat by allowing coffee with non-dairy creamer and Stevia (or Splenda), will this totally throw things out of whack? I know at least initially, I'm going to need my coffee, it's my one concession. Thanks.
I won't be having the coffee coffee during the fast.
Answer: Every year Americans invest billions of dollars in weight loss diets and gimmicks, many of which yield few results. However, the lure of quick, easy weight loss is hard to resist. Despite ineffective tools, most hopeful consumers are willing to give the next weight loss fad a chance. If you're planning to start a new diet, it is important to remember the following information.
Food-specific diets: Have you ever tried the cabbage diet or the fruit-only diet? These are just a couple of examples of diets that promote one "specific" food that causes weight loss. No matter how much you think you'll enjoy ice cream at every meal, inevitably you will get bored with eating the same food repeatedly. As a result, you'll eat less food than needed to maintain your weight. This type of diet will not teach you healthier eating habits or provide a balance of nutrients, and consequently is not effective for long-term weight loss.
High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets: One of the most recent trends in dieting, these diets are based on the concept that carbohydrates are "bad" and that everyone has some degree of insulin resistance, resulting in poor carbohydrate metabolism. Many proponents of these diets suggest that including carbohydrates in your diet will cause weight gain. The reality, though, is that eating more calories (whether as carbohydrate, fats, or protein) than you burn will cause weight gain.
High-fiber, low-calorie diets: Fiber-rich foods play an important role in a healthy diet. They are a helpful ingredient of weight loss efforts because they provide bulk to the diet, which helps you feel fuller sooner. Be careful, though: if you plan to increase the fiber in your diet, be sure to increase your fluid intake at the same time or you may experience cramping, bloating, and constipation. High-fiber diets will help with weight loss only if you restrict calories in conjunction with addition of extra grains, fruits and vegetables.
Liquid diets: Consumers face a couple of different liquid diet options. Your local grocery store and pharmacy sell over-the-counter liquid meal replacements, which can be expensive and frequently add extra calories to daily consumption if not managed carefully. On the other hand are liquid diets that require medical supervision. These diets are usually very low in calories and may result in metabolic abnormalities if dieters are not carefully monitored. Neither type of liquid diet should be used for long-term weight loss unless monitored by a health care professional. Radically changing your caloric intake in this way will not result in long-term behavior modification and healthy eating patterns.
Fasting: As a way to cleanse the body or jump-start a weight-loss program, fasting has been recommended for years. However, all that fasting really does is deprive your body of nutrients and decrease your energy, leaving you feeling weak and lightheaded. If the right nutrients are not available for your cells to use as energy, your liver will convert fat stores to ketones for use as energy (ketosis). Long-term ketosis can be harmful to your health.
No fad diet or gimmick will work magic for safe and effective weight loss. The following are some suggestions for ensuring a long-term healthy eating plan and getting your weight loss efforts off to an encouraging start:
Eat a variety of foods. Remember, a balanced diet will ensure that you get all necessary nutrients.
Get some physical activity every day. Calories in must be less than calories out to ensure successful weight loss. To keep "calories out" at a healthful level, make you get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
Include sources of fiber in your diet. They will add bulk and give you a feeling of fullness.
Choose a diet low in fats, saturated fats, and cholesterol. You do need to consume some fat for good health. Aim for no more than 30 percent of your total calories as fat calories, of which no more than 10 percent should be saturated fat calories.
Choose foods moderate in sugars. Foods that are high in simple sugars usually offer little nutritional value and will add unwanted calories.
