Grapeseed
Question: Where can I find grapeseed oil in Toronto? Hello,
I live in Toronto, Ontario.
Can you tell me where can I find GRAPESEED OIL at a reasonable price?
Thank you,
M. R.
Answer: I am a former chef and live in Toronto, "Blondies was refering to the Big Carrot on Danforth, if your going anywhere near Yorkville go to Whole Foods on Avenue Rd up near the Hojos Hotel, I buy mine either at Bruno's on Avenue Rd and Wilson or Pusteris on Avenue Rd and Lawrence.
I have seen it highend store like Loblaws, A&P stores, it is very light, has a high smoke point but is mildly pricey, about the same as good olive oil.
Question: I have heard grapeseed oil is good for the skin. Is grapeseed good as an all around skin moisturizer? I researched and it says grapeseed oil tones the skin, increases skin elasticity, and greatly moisturizes he skin.
Answer: Grapeseed oil derives from cold-pressing method of the seeds of grapes. It's a light and less-greasy oil that can be applied on the face, hair and body. it doesn't clog pores as it absorbs into the skin easily. Grapeseed oil is high in ani-oxidants that help you to fight against free-radicals on the skin's surface. If you have an oily skin, it's a good oil to use. A word of caution: if applied on and exposed under sunlight, it may cause pigmentation. I would suggest jojoba oil as an all-round moisturiser as its molecular structure is closer to our skin but grapeseed is one of the next best thing as it's cheaper and just as good.
Question: what can i use instead of grapeseed oil? i am making chocolate chip cookies and the recipe asks for grapeseed oil, i am having trouble finding grapeseed oil
what can i use intead?

Question: How expensive is grapeseed oil? Is it more expensive than extra virgin olive oil? How does it taste? I tend to find olive oil too strong for my taste.. would grapeseed oil be better?
Answer: I agree that olive oil can be very strong. I just bought grape seed oil 34 oz. for $7.99 and like it. If you want olive oil that is more mild, do not buy extra virgin. Extra virgin is from the first press of the olive which makes it very strong.
Question: Can you switch canola oil for grapeseed oil? This is a quick one. I'm babysitting this morning and making pancakes. The recipe calls for canola oil but I can only find grapeseed oil in the house. Can I replace the canola oil with grapeseed?
Answer: i would not use canola oil anyway. grape seed oil is better , better for you, and won't change the taste at all. also it is better for frying as it can be heated to a higher temp befor burning.
Question: Will applying grapeseed oil on my body make me hairier? i've read that applying any oils on ur body would make your hair stronger and encourage hair growth. However grapeseed oil is the healthiest alternative i've researched to get rid of stretch marks, so what do i do? is it true that it will make me a hairier?
Answer: No it will not make you hairier if that were the case bald men would be flocking to it!
Question: Is there a substitute for grapeseed oil? I want to make a recipe tonight that calls for grapeseed oil. Problem is, I have none. Is there something else I could use instead? Thanks very much.
Answer: It depends on what your making and why grapeseed?
Grapeseed is used in certain recipes that need a very hot temps. Grapeseed can be heated to a very high temp( higher then all the others). Olive oil is the total opposite.High temps burn it.
If it's something fried that requires a hot temp, use canola instead. Something that you can just saute( lightly) olive oil would work .
Something that isn't fried, I would use whatever I had on hand( but preferably the olive oil)

Answer: You are better off feeding a corn or canola oil as a supplement. Grapeseed and rapeseed oils are fairly expensive, used in cooking because of their low smoke temp. (They don't burn at high heat.) I'm not sure either as to ever having anyone use them on horses...check with the vet first.

Question: Am I safe using grapeseed oil for massage? I know that alot of people have allergies to certain things. I am a massage therapist who is interested in using grapeseed oil for massage. Do I generally have anything to worry about as far as allergies to this?
Answer: if you are worried specifically about an allergic reaction, then the answer is,that any person could be allergic to anything at any time in their life. Makes no difference whether it is grapeseed oil or motor oil. You just never know. If you want to be somewhat assured, then put a dab on the skin and wait a little, and then you can probably proceed to the massage.
Question: Can I use grapeseed oil in baking? I'm trying to find another alternative to canola oil for baking. I have read many negative things about it, and I'd like to stay away from it. In any case, I've been melting butter, and yes, I know lots of saturated fats, but I believe if you are active enough, and eat healthy enough, that the saturated fats aren't that bad in moderation. Anyhoo, the fat levels are very high, so back to the grapeseed oil, can I bake with it? Also if you have other suggestions, please let me know.
Answer: yes you can but not for frying it's too smokey otherwise it's a much lighter oil to use in cooking
