Emu Oil
Question: emu oil??? Is emu oil good for the skin?
What are the benefits?
I put some emu oil on the subborn zits, is that okay>>?
Answer: I would use emu oil for moisturizing, not for zits. Any bird fat, as in chicken or turkey, ought to work as well, though it may have its own odor.
Question: How often to wash hair with emu oil? I am an african american (so if you're white and know NOTHING about our hair, DON'T ANSWER because you're most likely wrong).
I was planning to use emu oil on my hair as a moisturizer every day (because the scalp absorbs emu oil and it's THE greatest oil ever if you want your hair to grow amazing).
But, if I use emu oil on my scalp every day, how often should I wash my hair? I usually wash once a week, but do I have to change it now?
Answer: wash it once every 2 weeks cuz u dont want to wash out al the oils i mixed balck and white but mostly black and have kinda damamged hair and use olive oil oil sheen
Question: What are the best Emu oil products that I can buy that are made from Australian ingredients? Hi all
I was looking at getting some Emu oil products for my mum who has begun to suffer from arthritis in her hands. I have read that emu oil can be quite good for reducing the pain.
Has anyone used emu oil? And if so with what results?
I am looking for a top quality natural emu oil that has been made here in Oz from only Oz ingredients.
Any suggestions?????
Answer: I use a product that has emu and tea tree oil. I use it on my face, but not so sure about using it for reducing pain. I love it!! I get mine on ebay, but not sure where you can get a product made there.
Question: Where can I get a combination folligen and emu oil-based product to improve the condition of my hair? I am African-American and have chemically relaxed my hair with box treatments for years. I have noticed that I do not get the same results with my chemical relaxing that I once did in the past. My hair does not respond as readily to conditioning products that I once used and the relaxer does not last as long as it once did. I have heard a lot about the products folligen, I believe it is found in Minoxidil, and Emu oil as excellent products to restore damaged hair due to modern day styling techniques. I have not, however, seen much information on over-the-counter products containing them besides Minoxidil for hair loss and Super Strength Blue Emu Oil for joint and muscle pain. Are there any stores that carry these products like Walmart, Walgreen's, or GNC?
Answer: My hair is also relaxed & I've decided to give emu oil a shot myself. I just purchased the oil itself off ebay. Faintly smells like chicken.Extra virgin olive oil is excellent also. How are you applying your relaxers? No-lye relaxers are harder on the hair than lye relaxers & timing is very crucial w/ either type. If you've been using a no-lye relaxer I strongly recommend stretching your relaxer for about 8 weeks (so you'll have about 1" of new growth) & then ONLY touching up your roots w/ a lye relaxer. Be sure to base your scalp & try not to overprocess. You should never relax your entire head if a relaxer has been applied once before.Your hair right now could be overprocessed or underprocessed depending on how careful you are while self relaxing. Also your hair might be growing at a faster rate, that is why it may seem like you need another relaxer every time you turn around. If your hair is damaged & breaking I highly recommend Nexxus emergencee then following up w/ a moisturizing conditioner free of any proteins like nexxus humuctress, nectaress, or aphogee balancing moisturizer conditioner. You have to make sure that you follow up w/ a moisturizing conditioner w/ out protein otherwise your hair will be too hard from the protein & snap off. Don't be scared though because it will dramatically improve the condition of your hair & cut down on the breakage. If you're looking for something to make your hair grow faster I doubt anything will help you & I wouldn't recommend using minoxidil unless you seriously have thinning hair. Lot's of people have had success using a product called Shapley's MTG on their scalps. It is an equine product that has sulfur in it. I've tried it myself & it's alright, but it smells like bacon. If u decide to try it, be sure you don't have any in your hair the week of your relaxer because your scalp will burn. I hope that helps some in your hair journey. If you're trying to grow your hair long be VERY careful with it, keep it covered at night & try not to use heat styling tools more than 1x a week after you wash & be patient :) Good luck!
Question: Has anyone tried emu oil for stretch marks? Does it work...if so how long does it take to see good results? I have tried 100% cocoa butter, olive oil, vitamin e, a, and d oils all mixed and it seems to be helping but I want to know if emu oil works better/faster.
Thanks:)
Oh by the way they are on my inner thighs and calves and are a little deep.
Answer: no i havent, i have used vitamen E oil, not the cream but the oil, rubbed into the area twice a day for 100 days for scars and its worked.
also tanning , but a fake tan ..as I shouldnt reccomend frying yourself these days re skin cancer
I always thought emu oil was for arthritis hmm
Question: Is there a vegan alternative to emu oil? I have been gauging my ears for the past few years, and am currently content with my current size of 5/8".
However, since my earlobes have gotten a bit thin, not dangerously close to ripping or any thing, but a little thin.
I am not too keen on the idea of using emu oil. So is there any vegan products similar to it that have the same effectiveness?
Answer: emu oil is such a great product. nothing currently compares to it.
Question: I want to use emu oil for my acne scars but I've heard people say that it will make you break out? I have quite a lot of back acne scars that I want to get rid of and after reading some articles, people have said that emu oil really works wonders in making them disappear or fade. However, I have also read that emu oil will make you break out as well. My back still breaks out randomly, will applying emu oil make it worse? Are there any other ways to get rid of the scars/ back acne (preferably without a prescription or seeing a doctor)? For example, sugar scrubs? Thanks!
Answer: Anytime someone hears the word "oil", they think it will clog your pores and make you break out.
This isn't true of ALL oils.
Emu Oil is one of the exceptions.
It WILL NOT clog your pores and it WILL help get rid of scars and prevent future breakouts.
But you have to get the Emu Oil that is AEA Certified. It's the best!! Do a google search and buy it online.
Emu oil can be expensive, but you can get it for $5-10 an once. Especially if you buy more.
Question: What is the best type of emu oil? I'd like to begin using emu oil.
What is the best type of pure emu oil to use?
Which has the best health benefits? (crude, refined etc.)
Please tell me more about the oil. Does refining it destroy it like refining does to so many other other oils?
Answer: The best type of emu oil to use is 100% pure refined emu oil. An equally good quality emu oil is molecular distilled emu oil.
Both emu oils are 'cosmetic-grade' emu oils, suitable for pharmaceuticals, cosmetic and dietary supplements.
Crude emu oil is used for soaps and animal feed products, so you don't want to use this kind.
Refined emu oils are processed at high temperatures to remove potentially harmful contaminants such as hormones, toxic metals, pesticides, viruses, infections, and harmful bacteria (E. coli & salmonella). A lot of these particles can't be removed at lower temperatures.

Majority of research on emu oil uses 100% fully refined emu oil. Emu oil has many skin healing properties now being discovered by scientists.

Question: does emu oil or jojoba oil work better for ear stretching? be honest haha.even tho im still deciding to use emu oil cus its made out of emu which is pretty gross!
Answer: Jojoba is a really good alternative if you're not comfortable w/ using animal products. I love both emu and jojoba though. Emu can be used on fresh piercings :]
Question: Has anyone ever used emu oil, if so what were the benefits? A friend of mine is considering buying emu oil to treat muscle pain in his hand. I have never heard of emu oil before. Where do you buy it from? Are they any benefits or dangers in using it?
Answer: Your friend is making a good choice. Emu Oil has been found to help with muscle and joint pain quite effectively. It has been used by aborigines in Australia for thousands of years for bone, muscle and joint pain, burns, wounds and bruises. In New Zealand & Australia Emu Oil is used over pharmaceuticals for burn treatment. It is known to be highly anti inflammatory, hypoallergenic and appears to penetrate easily into the many layers of the skin. You can purchase Pure Emu Oil from http://www.suuthe.com/pure-emu-oil.html as well as many other sites online. We have not come across any dangers in using this amazing oil.
Question: Does the emu die when oil is extracted from it.? I am a massage therapist and have a holistic and naturalistic point of view. Needless to say i try to be environmental friendly. I originally thought that emu oil came from a plant, and i now know differently. I need to know if the emu is harmed in the process of extracting oil from it. If anyone can provide a refererance, it would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: The live Emu is placed in a vice and squeezed until the oil is drawn ,some Emus make it some dont ,even if they do make it ,there never the same .
Question: how many emus does it take to make an ounce of emu oil? I'm using for pain relief just want to make sure I am not responsible for excessive killing of emus for thier oil.
Answer: Usually takes around 3 or 4 adult sized emu's to make and ounce of emu oil.
Question: Has anyone tried emu oil or the liquid snails leave as a trail, for getting rid of wrinkles? A lot of websites are saying that emu oil or snails trails work miracles on wrinkles. Has a more mature person, like myself.....over 50 ever used either, and if so, was it successful?
Answer: I'm not far off 60. I have used emu oil, which I found made my skin feel fabulously soft and smooth, but I can't say that it really affected my wrinkles. Maybe I didn't use it long enough. I thought it was an excellent moisturiser for the skin. But I don't know where to buy it from any more?
I've never heard of using snail trails, and I would be really really interested to know the reasoning behind this, if anyone can come up with anything?
For a start, emu oil was quite expensive. Snails - I've got a million of!
Question: I started taking emu oil for arthritis and my heart started missing beats and fluttering? I thought I must be crazy but as soon as I stopped taking them the arrhythmias stopped.
I also had severe palpitations from a pethidine shot after surgery once and msg gives me palpitations but I never expected emu oil to affect my heartbeat.
Has anyone else had this happen with emu oil
Answer: There is a serious lack of emu oil studies that show either safety or efficacy of emu oil. Generally if something has an effect physiologically, it will have side effects too, and these can be dangerous for certain people.
It is erroneous to believe that natural means safe. One example - arsenic is natural. A problem with alternative medicine is the safety and risks are largely unknown. While it's a concern, I also think it's interesting that you had an adverse response to emu oil, if that's what caused it. You should discuss this with a doctor asap.
Question: What is emu oil and what can it do for our health? What are the benefits of emu oil where do I obtain good quality emu oil at a reasonable price
Answer: HAHA man i never knew emu oil was so popular. I HAVE IT! the benifits are its a good moisterizer, it actually feeds your skin. Secondly give it 3 days and it will reduce redness on skin. It also heals scars faster and just makes your skin tone great. seriously my sis bought it at vitamin cottage you can get a small bottle for like 8 bucks and one drop can cover your whole left cheek and more.
Question: When Does Emu Oil start working? or get best results? iv been susing Emu oil for about 2 weeks morning and night. i haveent seen rele any results i dont think. I have a big scar on my cheek, its like my hole cheek is all just scar theres no actual bumps/zits. Will emu oil help this?
Answer: No.
Emu oil is no different than vitamin E, or other hydrating oil skin treatments.
Your best bet is to see a dermatologist and find out what is available that works. Dermal abrasion, or a chemical skin peel come to mind, as they remove the surface layers of skin, and promote new growth from below the epidermal layer. No oil is going to do that.
Question: Does Emu Oil Shampoo really help Psoriasis? I believe my boyfriend has psoriasis on his scalp. I have heard emu oil shampoo can help with that.
Has anyone tried it? Does it work?
Also, do you know a good brand that I can buy? Maybe something inexpensive?
Answer: Hello there. I tried emu oil for my psoriasis (arms, knees and scalp) without any effect whatsoever. It may work for others, though. For myself, the herbal spray and cream by Champori works the best. Try those: they work fast, the effect is long-lasting (I go months at a time with no flare ups) and come with money back guarantee, too
Best,
Bernadette
Question: Do Emu's have to be killed in order to get oil from them for creams and such? I'm hearing all of these wonderful things about how great these Emu oil creams are. I then find out that the creams, etc. are made with oils from Emu's skin. Before even considering purchasing such a product, I just want to make sure that the Emus are not killed or harmed in any way in order to extract this oil from them, as I will definitely NOT buy the creams if that is the case!
Answer: Yes, they have to be killed to get the raw materials to make these products.
Question: Does emu oil help with clear acne and fade scars? I have mild acne on my forehead and I was wondering if emu oil really does help clear up acne and fade scars. Has anyone ever tried it? Has anyone had bad side effects from it? Thanks.
How are you supposed to apply the emu oil and how frequently?
Answer: I read that emu oil is good for scars, but I have read more comments about Vitamin E and Cocoa butter...
Emu oil will NOT help acne, it will make it WORSE. Do not put ANY oil on your face...
Question: EMU OIL VS ALOE VERA wat is the best moisturisr to use in terms of acne help and inflamation and scarring? i have heard very good things about both emu oil and aloe vera moisturisers to help acne
but which is the best?
would mixing the moisturisers together or using them both ontop of eachother be even better or would this cancel them out or something???
Answer: Try the pure emu oil for the best results.
Forget Andrew D's comments he has not researched it, here are some facts.
Comedogencity Testing
One of the major drawbacks of using any oil in skin care or cosmetic applications is its common tendency to clog up pores and subsequently cause acne.
Comedogencity (pore-clogging) testing of emu oil conducted at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston resulted in both observational and histological scores of less than 1. The interpretation of this score reveals that the emu oil Is considered to indicate a substance that is unlikely to produce a comedogenic response during human use and is therefore considered to be a negative result .
The final assessment of the report stated: "On the basis of observational and histologic testing from comedogenicity, the emu oil used in this test, from 25% to 100%, is non-comedogenic" Despite the fact it is an oil, emu oil was demonstrated to be a non -pore-clogging substance.

I also put Emu oil on at night or in the morning before I go to work. It has good healing properties and doesn't clog your pores. Or if you're vegan, jojoba oil is another hydrating oil. And then I always wear sunscreen and lip balm.
