Dragon's Blood
Question: Am I doing the right thing for my best-friend and myself? I'm 14yrs. old, and my best-friend is 12yrs. old.
We are really close, so much that we call each-other brothers, I'm his big-bro. and hes my little bro. We hang-out all the time and we like to be in constant contact w/ one another always! Either the phone, cell phones, myspace & texting what-ever!
The sad thing is though my friend has no other friends besides me, I just entered the high school this year and he is still at the old middle school for 1 more year. (last year we both were in the same school)
And I always ask him on the bus, How was school? Got H.W.?
Has anybody picking on you lately? Grades are good? ETC.
I wanna know everything to make sure hes ok, b/c i love him so much as a brother i only wan him to be happy and have the best of everything! We look out for each-other, and we love each other truly.
My mom is being rude about the situation though, she thinks the relationship between us is wrong i guess. she told me not to put too much time love and effort in the relationship b/c i guess my friend is "playing" me? That is the biggest load of B.S. I've ever heard!
I don't think a little lonely & timid 12 yr. old is gonna do that to his only friend and to someone who is like a big-bro. to him.
(after all he doesn't have any real brothers by blood) He told me that I'm the best and closet thing to a brother he could ever want.
My momis also like saying mean things that hurts his feelings to me like for example-- "You need a better friend your own age"
Thats just plain-flat-out mean isn't it?
--He (my friend) told me that his art project is based on our relationship--
Its about a dragon (me) and a owl (him) The dragon is older than his owl friend by two years and they spend alot of time together. But The dragon's mom doesn't like that her baby dragon is spending time w/ an owl who is younger than him.
How thoughtful is that on his part? That must mean he thinking about me all the time to think of that in the middle of the school day.
And he I both agreed on this,
Who would rather have 1 special/bestfriend that is like a bro. to them, then to have 1000 just ordanary friends?
I honestly think nothing is wrong in the relationship, and niehter does my bestfriend either, he so attached to me, he told me that he doesn't want to lose me and that my mom better not seperate us, b/c I'm the only one that actually care about him, etc.
I think I'm doing the right thing for both me and my "little bro."
How about you? I could use some advice! I'm gonna just ignore my mom and contnue to the one ture friend I have that loves me more than anyone.
Plz. let me know about your opinion on this! I'd appreciate the help!
Answer: I think it's awesome that you have a friendship as solid as yours. It's sweet. You're mom should be happy for you, it's strange that she would want to ruin that. I'm sorry to both you and your friend that your mom is acting that way. Try to just ignore her and don't let anything get in the way of your friendship.
Bros before hoes dude.
haha, J/K
Question: How does this outline look for an awesome fight in a Pizza Shop during March 1944? This is just an outline of how the fight will be. It's for a World War II story I'm typing.
(The question is just asking "What do you think about the fight scence" so please don't ask me how these characters of different nationalities became friends.)
David Danson; Black-haired Irish-American boy, manager of the Dragon's Dish
Wendy Wong; Love interest of David; Chinese-born woman, slightly taller than David.
Mario; Italian-born business partner of David's.
Dragon's Dish; fictional Chinese-Theme Pizza Restaurant near Navy Pier (in Chicago)
Ok, here's the outline below;
A group of Germans are eating at the Dragon’s Dish, and being very rude to David and Mario. The Germans talk among themselves about something plan that needs to be done on Friday, and that it needs to be done then, because as they need to leave the city on Friday night and they by 100% can’t afford to change the plan on which day to put their plan into action. When they’re rude to Wendy, David tells them to get out and that they’re ban from the shop. The main German punch David on the side of the face, but Mario takes them all on knocking most of them out. When the leader punches Mario in the back of the head, David slashes at the leader’s leg with one of the Katanas on the wall badly injuring his leg, spilling lots of blood on the floor and he falls to the ground. David holding the Katana up at the other guys says he’ll call the police, and the main guy says they can’t risk this kind of trouble and orders his guys to leave with him. On the way out, the limping leader gives David an evil look of anger and walks out.
and yeah, I know Katanas are Japanese. Just because it's a Chinese theme restaurant, that doesn't mean the everything needs to be Chinese. Pizza's not even Chinese food.
This message is for Diana.
Thanks. I like asking Yahoo cause my friends r 2 nice. ppl 2 point out flaws 2 fix. I laughed a bit when u said no 1 keeps real 1s on display, like Elizabeth grabbing sword in POTC. David buys his swords in China Town. He doesn't even use Katana cases, they on the wall w/ blades expose.
The Germans r planning 2 shoot civilians. With their anger at David, they will try 2 shoot him on Fri 2, but kill Wendy instead (I forget 2 mention she's also older than David). This will cause heartbreak, wanting vengenace join the military. His 1st combat mission is being 1 of 1000s of troops on D-Day.
I have it were the Germans must do things on Fri is because thats when David has dinner w/ Wendy at the Dragon's Dish. This will make him regret "If only I didn't have the dinner date on Fri. If only I had it on Sat as I originally planned."
He's shot in the throat 2 months after D-Day & 4gives the Germans as he dies. He hears Wendy's voice calling him as he dies.
Answer: Why did David slash the German? A fist-fight is okay, but why must it go that far? If David has few morals, I suppose it passes, but that kind of action is unrealistic in that scenario. It gets too violent too fast over a somewhat small thing. Might I mention that Katanas for display are usually only for display? They tend not to be very sharp. I find it hard to believe someone would keep real weapons on display in a public restaurant. Also, if the German's leg was slashed open, how does he get out of the restaurant? It's hard to believe he limped out without leaning on one of his buddies. Are you aware of the fact that during World War II the U.S was Germany's enemy? Many Germans were relocated and kept track of. Why would David call the police if he slashed open a man? That is too serious to be considered self-defense unless the German cut someone else or had a gun and was shooting it wildly. The Katanas, the Chinese theme, and the pizza blend three different cultures, and someone from one of these cultures might take offense at this. If I was, I would see this as you stating that my very way of living wasn't important, and that it could be mixed with some completely strange customs. I know that is looking at it bigger than usual, but I have known people like that. Over all, though, your idea is really good and I wonder what the Germans were planning. The plot is well thought out, and I congratulate you for that because some writers just start writing without knowing what's going to happen in their story.
Question: What is the name of the movie on Sci Fi that involves a dragon's blood? What is the movie on sci fi that is about a man who goes to a dragon's lair and kills it and bathes in its blood to become immortal? And gets put under a love potion to get him to fall in love with her rather then his true love!
Answer: Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King
Question: What was dragon's blood used for other than eternal life? Does it factor into the Philisopher's Stone myth? What was dragon's blood used for other than eternal life? Does it factor into the Philisopher's Stone myth?
Answer: In the myth of sigurd and the nibelungs dragon's blood is used to make sigurd invincible. However when sigurd is bathing in the dragons blood he doesn't notice a leaf that lands on the back of his shoulder, thus creating a weak spot that eventually leads to his death. I'm sure dragon's blood would make a great spell component if you could get magic to work. according to wikipedia dragon's blood isn't involved in the philosopher's stone.
Question: Can you tell us of the connection of Dragon's Blood & the River Styx, and, the two Heroes involved? This is one of the true Mythology & Folklore questions I will post this day. I will give best answers, but I will ignore urls except as Sources.
Hint: Greek & Germanic
Answer: they are both meant to endow the person dipped in them with resilience to harm. like an armour. something like what happened to achilles who became invulnerable.
Question: Has anybody read Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen? If so, could you tell me some questions I could ask about this book, as well as the answers. Any questions are fine, but I would like some that involve some kind of deeper thought and are not just pulling facts from the book.
Answer: That is a pretty good book. how about reading it and enjoying it ( i've read it twice).. and perhaps coming up with something to show your teacher that actually says "hey.. i did this"
Question: is dragon's blood sedum used as an incense?
Answer: Yes, in the Holistic medicinal field
Question: Will you tell of the mystical and herbal origin and use of "dragon's Blood"? This is one of the true Mythology & Folklore questions I will post this day. I will give best answers, but I will ignore urls except as Sources.
Hint: Achilles had the River Styx. Who had Dragon's Blood.
Answer: Origin:
"It is the resin that comes from the tree Dracaena Draco (a few other trees produce similar resins) which is mostly found in Africa, Asia and Central America." (Flutterby - Associated Content) (Also found in the following: Canary Islands, Madeira Island, and Cape Verde Island. (Desert Tropicals) )
"The word Dragon's Blood comes from the bright red resin that is secreted when the bark or branches are cut. In Ancient times it looked so similar to blood that people really did think it was dried blood of a dragon. The only way to tell the age of the tree is to count the number of branch forking occurrences and by measuring how often the tree flowers. It does not have rings like other trees and some trees are believed to be at least 700 years old." (Flutterby - Associated Content)
Mystical and Magickal uses:
"True Dragon's Blood is a coagulant (helps stop bleeding) and the other resins that look similar are actually anti-coagulants.
Dragon's Blood ink is thought to be very powerful. The resin is made into a red ink and is used to write spells, charms, draw runes, talismans and inscribe magickal seals. This is the perfect ink to use to write a protection spell on a book, like a book of shadows, or in fire spells that require you to write something down (wish, prayer) and then burn it." (Flutterby - Associated Content)
- Considered to be in any Witchcraft Kit
- Used in Ancient Egypt during the embalming process (Desert Tropicals)
"Dragons blood is primarily used to promote healing and treat blood disorders. Blood: Dragon's blood can be used to control hemorrhages from injury to the body. It can also be taken to invigorate the blood.
Ulcers: Dragon's blood can be used to treat chronic ulcers.
There is no negative health information available about Dragons Blood. Consult your health care provider before beginning use of any herb." (Monterey Bay Spice Company)
Edit: You gave us a hint talking about Achilles, when I searched your phrase I came up with the following: "Siegfried (2 syl.) was rendered invulnerable by anointing his body with dragon’s blood. (Nibelungen Lied.)" Now upon search Siegfried, I came up with a source from Wikipedia that talked about an Opera called, "Siegfried," by Richard Wagner. It is part three of a four part opera and its "premiere was at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus on 16 August 1876, as part of the first complete performance of The Ring."
"In his last moments, Fafner learns Siegfried's name, and tells him to beware of treachery. When Siegfried draws his sword from the corpse, his hands are burned by the dragon's blood, and he instinctively puts them to his mouth. On tasting the blood, he finds that he can understand the woodbird's song."
"However, the dragon's blood allows Siegfried to read Mime's treacherous thoughts, and he slays the Nibelung. Siegfried then throws Mime's body into the treasure cave and places Fafner's body in the cave entrance to block it as well."
Apparently this talks about real Dragon's blood, not from the tree, but from an actual dragon. It sets the character Siegfried into a certain state of mind.
"Siegfried enters the ring of fire, emerging on Brünnhilde's rock. At first, he thinks the armored figure is a man. However, when he removes the armor, he finds a woman beneath. Uncertain about what to do, Siegfried at last experiences fear. In desperation, he kisses Brünnhilde, waking her from her magic sleep. Hesitant at first, Brünnhilde is won over by Siegfried's love, and renounces the world of the gods. Together, they hail "light-bringing love, and laughing death.""

Question: where can you purchase dragon's blood resin/incense/oil here in metro manila?
Answer: if you cant buy it locally buy it from ebay probrably get it cheaper there anyway :0)
Question: what are the properties of Dragon's Blood incense?
Answer: Cleansing, I love it in all cleansing incenses I make because it gives a huge boost and you need only use a little. So for any heavy duty cleansing, this is a perfect resin to use.
It is also used in love magick. You can burn some and ask that a certain someone call you. Well i use this together with another spell but there's no reason why it should work alone.
You can use it for protection as well. If you feel that envy or other ill energy is around you or directed at you, you can pray for protection and burn some of it near the front door or in the main room of the home.
I always have this resin in stock and can't help but use it in many of my incenses.
Hope this helps,
Shadow Storm
Question: my mom's bf said im cant burn dragon's blood inscence around him and he wont tell me y? hes wiccan (a witch)
Answer: he probably doesn't want to get your mom pregnant.
I belive that Dragons Blood Inscense is seen as a potency booster in many ways, one site I found said:
----------------------
Wicca / Pagan / Spiritual Uses Include:
Burn Dragons Blood resin for love, protection, exorcism, and sexual potency. Use for Courage, Magical Power, Energy, Strength, Purification, Changes, Determination, Cleansing.
A pinch of Dragon's Blood added to any other incense increases its potency and power.

personally I have dragons blood resin inscense(not sticks but actual resin for coal burning) and have used it, its great stuff. very strong.
Question: What is the best way to make my own Dragons' Blood oil out of the natural resin? So I tried to make some Dragons' Blood oil out of the resin chunks recently and it didn't turn out "terrible" but, I really don't know what I'm doing...so any links to a step by step process would be great or if you could just post the steps here if it's pretty simple would be awesome.
and for those Christians out there ready to burn the witch, I'm actually a Christian too so calm down. I just love the way Dragons Blood smells and wear it on my clothes. I swear your type of Christians is what makes everyone think our belief system is crazy. Our belief system isnt crazy, your just crazy.
Even if I was a Pagan, back off! Your not going to get any converts by using the Word of God to attack people!!!
Answer: I prefer a tincture of it.
Simply dissolve the powdered form into pure grain ethanol (or in a pinch, standard isopropyl), until it won't dissolve any more.
Question: how to be a blood mage in Dragon's age :Origins? i finished the game 2 times but i never become a blood mage..how i can be a blood mage? ..any advice please :]
Answer: During the quest to rescue the Arl's son, when you have to confront the Desire Demon in the Fade, you'll be given an opportunity to swap a reward (one of them being the blood mage specialization) in order for letting her live. However, to be able to get this dialogue option you must be a mage and YOUR character must choose to enter the fade (can't convince others to go for you). Check the wiki for more info, if necessary.
Question: In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...? Why did dragon's blood give away Professor Horace Slughorn to Dumbledore when he and Harry were searching for him?

Question: Is there any stores in Chicago where you could buy stuff for spells? There are spells that call for weird things like dragon's blood and things like that but is there any store near Chicago were you could buy things like that?
Answer: Alchemy Arts is "The Occult Store" in Chicago. they have a massive selection of herbs, oils, tools, books, candles, Incense, and much much more. they even have magic(k)al tools made by a local artist, wands, pentacles, walking staffs, and runic sets and boards. the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful as well as a practitioner various paths.
the other thing that is nice about the shop is that it is a local hub for pagan and occult groups and events in the area. there are almost always classes going on each month and its a great place to find others in the community.
Question: DISCUSSION ON HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE MOVIE?? first: i need to take a very deep breath. ok. good. everyone with me. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it was sooooooooooooo good!!!! they actually got it right!!! yes!!! so maybe they messed up the time of the Harry/Ginny thing, and that it WASNT dragon's blood that gave Slughorn away, but the Dark Mark, or that there WASNT any white tomb funeral for Dumbledore, or that it was supposed to be Tonks that finds Harry on the train instead of Luna and... ok... i nominate the best acting awards in top 5 order for this:
1. HELENA BONHAM CARTER!!!!!
2. EVANNA LYNCH!!!!!!
3. Tom Felton
4. Emma Watson
5. Jim Broadbent
So... discussion... discussion... I LOVE HELENA BONHAM CARTER!!!!! SOOOO MUCH!!!!! and EVANNA LYNCH!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!! so, discuss. as you can see, i need it.
sorry, let me explain -- i was away at camp for a whole month, and missed it. a failed attempt at sneaking out to see it at camp, though, haha :P
Answer: I loved it too! I thought it was one of the best movies. I think Helena Bonham Carter is amazing. I love her in Fight Club and I can't wait to see the new Alice in Wonderland. I think she is brilliant. I also though Tom Felton did a fabulous job. I felt so bad for Malfoy. I'm sorry, though, I'm not a huge fan of Evanna Lynch, it's just not how I pictured Luna. Sorry! And I loved Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. I can't wait until the next movie.
