Question: Is it ok for my rabbit to eat the branches from a dog wood tree? My rabbit Eddie's teeth need to get shaved down so I need a branch for him to chew on. The only tree's around my house are Dog woods.
Answer: idk but i think tht it might hurt it
Question: what is dog wood and when is the best time of the year to plant it? dog woods seedlings.
Answer: Dog wood is small tree, usually with white flowers...Best to plant in the spring...
Question: What does it mean when a dog chews wood? When a dog chews sticks & wood does it mean the dog is lacking something in it's diet or it just wants to chew or both? My puppy (4 months) keeps wanting to gnaw on my baseboards & doorframes even though I got him plenty of chew toys. :/
Answer: There is a great article on puppy chewing in the link below. Check it out.
Question: What happens if a dog eats wood? I'm just wondering and I'm kind of worried. My dog was chewing on my table when I walked in my room. I'm taking him to the vet this Friday for his fleas and worms. Should I tell him about this? What happens if he eats some wood?
Answer: hi
You should let the Vet know about the wood eating. The only thing I can think of that could happen is that maybe some it especially a pointy part of that wood could get stuck either in his throat or tummy. Usually when they chew on something is an indication that their tooth or teeth are hurting it is a good idea to give him a calcium-bone which is bought at the supermarket or pet shop, what this does is cleans the dog's teeth, getting rid of plaque.
take care and byee!
Question: My dog chewed the wood to the door way of my kitchen. How can I fix it.? I have a door way into my kitchen that is made of wood. My dog chewed on the corner of it a lot and it is really torn up. Is there anyway I can fix it?
It is painted.
The dog has already been neutered and it is just the door casing, there isn't an actual door there.
Answer: Is it painted or stained? If it's painted, you can repair it somewhat easily. Dig out the loose pieces, splinters, etc. Get a can of Bondo, mix it up, and spread it in the hole. Let it set up, sand smooth, prime, and paint.
If it's stained, it's a much bigger deal. You will need to replace the jambs and casing. Hope this helps.

Answer: I may seem harsh but I have had good luck using a pressure washer to clean this type of thing. Obviously need to sand afterwards, but it seems, when careful, to do exactly what you want.
Question: what does it mean when my dog craves wood, plastic and paint? I have a 8 month old blue heller and she craves wood, plastic and she peels the paint off my wall. I provide her with different dog toys but she will fight for one of these items.
Answer: She is more than likely lacking some kind of nutrition in her diet..try changing her dog food up or give her a dog food that has a variety of nutrition.
Good Luck
Question: Painting a cedear wood dog house? I have a cedear wood dog house, I just bought it used, It looks like it was standing outside for a while. I want to paint it, because it has the natural finish on it. I am wondering what do you use to paint this dog house, and what to use for clean up.
Would I use wood stain????? anything also to protect it from the rain????
Thanks
Kamil
Answer: Since it is cedar, the best choice is to strip all paint and sealer from it and then use an exterior oil stain. Cedar when it is kept oiled will last for many years. The new composite woods and glue materials must be kept painted.
Question: What is the best way to get dog crap odor out of wood floors? I allowed a roommate to move a dog in...I never see him take the dog for walks, never see the dog out of the room... A couple of days ago I went in to his room to turn off a heater he had left going, and discovered that the room was wall to wall dog crap, on wood floors...of course even before I saw it I could smell it the second I opend the door. I have never been so happy in my life to have a door that could contain this smell. What can I do about the floors? the roommate? is this enough to evict him? um on a side note, anyone want a yorkshire terrier?
Answer: I hate to tell you this, but it isn't just poop you're dealing with but probably urine as well. If your floor is turning black in places that is from the urine. It is mold and there isn't anything you can do to get rid of it except replace the floor or have a professional come in and refinish it for you -- even then, it is iffy, because if the urine got between the floorboards the odor will still be there -- you may not be able to smell it, but another dog might. If the floor is damaged anyway, spray Tilex and let it sit. The clorox in it will bleach the floor a bit (you still won't get rid of the black stains) and will help to disinfect it and minimize the odor until a professional can repair the problem. And don't blame the Yorkie. When you gotta go you gotta go. He can't be expected to hold it forever. Your roommate has pretty much trained him to do his business in the house. Keep the Yorkie and ditch the human. You can always crate train the dog, but your roomie is another story.
Question: what time of the year is the best for transplanting a white Dog wood? We have quite a few around us wild and wondering when would the best time of yr to dig up and transplant one
Answer: late fall, but anytime except summer if water is provided. now would be good
Question: does any one know how much it would cost to remove a struggling mature dog wood tree? The tree still flowers in spring but on one side only, the other side is dead and the branshes fall randomly, speacially after a heavy rain.
Answer: the tree is sick and dying... don't prolong the inevitable... take it down.... it's spreading disease all over the area, infecting other trees.... please remove it....
http://www.treehelp.com/trees/dogwood/sp…
trees all over the southeast have been dying due to anthracnose... I lost mine to it...
they're not so big that you'd have too much trouble taking it down yourself.... get a friend with a chainsaw to remove most of the branches first and then saw thru the trunk as low to the ground as possible.... then either dig up the base and some roots or use fertilizer in drillled holes to hurry up the decomposition of the stump....
a company would charge prob around two or three hundred if the tree isn't huge.... more for coming to your house with equipment than for actual work.....
Question: How to get rid of dog scratches on wood windows and paneling? My idiot dog has scratched the hell out of the wood doors and wood window panels in our house. How do we fix it and then prevent it from happening again? (P.S. my dog is untrainable...)
Answer: get this:
http://peerfly.com/x/0/1022/6589/
this thing is amazing :D
Question: can anyone tell me a good product or method of fixing decent sized scratches (made by a dog) in a wood floor? Our 90lb dog is skiddish on our wood floor. This has created numerous scratches. Is there any good ways of fixing these without having to call a professional to refinish the entire floor? I've tried Old English and didn't have much luck - even with very slight scratches. Would wood paste work? Thank you.
Answer: Have you tried shellac sticks used for furniture repair?
Question: What kind of sticks or to hold a falling tree (dog wood 15 year old)? The storm/wind from last year knocked my tree down and a hired someone put it up. The sticks broke in half. 2 days later (today) the tree fail again. The guys supposed to put new sticks but turned out his man just put the old sticks back to the ground. Please help!
Answer: If the tree is over 10 feet high the sticks will not hold the tree. You need to instruct the workmen to use three 24" long steel stakes ( Re-Bar). Drive the stakes into the ground 8 feet from the tree at equal angles. Then use three 1/2" ropes to steady the tree to the steel stakes.
I don't think, however, that your tree is gonna survive. Dogwoods have a shallow root depth that is probably desturbed and broken. Good Luck.
Question: dog peed on wood - how to remove smell? my dog peed on some carpet (on stairs) - i have removed the carpet (going to replace with something ) but now i still have pee smell coming up from the wood that was under the carpet. any ideas on how to permanently remove the pee with out taking out the wood. thank you in advanced.
Thanks! if i can get a name of the cleaner that works well id appreciate it
Answer: You're going to get all sorts of advice about using Vinegar, Baking Soda, Enzymes, and Fabreeze. Go ahead and try the all these methods. I certainly did. They don't work.
What finally eliminated stench of cat pee for me was Lemon Scented Pine Solâ„¢. Nothing else even dented that smell. If Lemon Pine Sol can eliminate the smell of cat pee, dog pee is a piece of cake.
Pour undiluted Lemon Scented Pine Sol into a spritzer bottle and spray the floor with this.
Allow to dry.
Small warning: the scent of the Lemon Pine Sol will be overwhelming for a while...but the urine smell will be gone once the Pine Sol scent dissipates -- not covered up, but gone.
You might have to repeat a couple of times, but this works. This is the ONLY thing I have ever found that gets rid of the smell of urine.
Make sure you use the Lemon Scented Pine Sol, not the regular scent.

Question: What will happen if my dog repeatedly licks pressure treated wood? Our fence is made of pressure treated wood and our dog repeatedly licks it and chews on it. What will happen if she doesn't stop?
It is still made with arsenic.
Which is poisonous.
Answer: There is most likely chemicals in the treated wood. these chemicals may be harmful to your dog. You should make her stop before it is to late. You should use the reward and punishment method to train her! Reward her when she doesn't lick it, Punish her by saying "NO! Bad dog!" In a loud firm voice. When you punish her don't be violent, just be stern!
Question: When is the best time of year to trim & shape up my dog wood tree?
Answer: A lot depends on your geographical location. Best time will vary quite a bit depending on your planting zone. Since you didn't identify a general location, all I can do is point you in the direction of your answer. A Yahoo search for "dogwood tree care" (include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 570 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.
Good luck with your search.
Question: My dog chewed the wood molding around my back door, how can I fix this? My dog chewed the wood molding around my back door, she scraped off the paint and left some deep scratches from her teeth in the wood. The wood area is not stained it is painted. I wanted to know some suggestions on what works best and what to do, but also wanted to see if wall putty could fix the shredded area and i could paint over it. If that works that would be great, but If there is a better product or way please feel free to share. Thanks for the help.
Answer: LOL My dog did the same thing. Home Depot and Lowe's each carry a bunch of wood-filler products that will work fine (I think mine was Elmers).
I applied the paste, let it set for a few minutes and then roughly shaped it to the existing trim.
After it was totally dry, I sanded it to its final shape and painted right over it. Make sure the one you get will allow it to be painted.
Sandpaper needed will probably start at 150 and go up to 400-500.
Question: my dog wood house need attention I want to treat it with cheap oil can i use sunflower oil what is the cheapes? I would like to treat my dog wood house with oil after that i will varnish it but all cost a lot of money please suggest cheap oil to first treat the wood after i will varnish it and how long should i wait after the treatment of oil to start vanish
Answer: OK so your dog is called woodhouse? strange name for a dog? Me I had a god called no but he never listened to me. Secondly you want to treat him with cheap oil? Bad idea He will have the 5hits in no time at all. And last and not least why on earth do you want to varnish your dog. PS to the last bit of the question YES it will cost a lot of money, in vets bills
Question: Whats that video of a small dog getting a running start on some wood floor? A while ago, I saw a video of a small dog being held and barking at someone and trying to get at them. The person then put the dog down on some wood floor and instead of running, the dog went backwards, and then forwards and chase after the person. I think I saw it on AFV, but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Any help?
Answer: Sounds like my dogs. We have laminate flooring. Our dogs kind of run in place for a couple of seconds before they get going, and if they try to stop, they do a slide half way across the room. Sometimes they do a 180 during a slide, it's pretty funny actually.
