Belladonna
Question: What is the difference between homeopathic Belladonna and the herbal plant Belladonna? I`ve heard a lot of bad info about the plant.I`m interested the the homeopathic remedy as my son has many of the symptoms that belladonna may help. Are there any side effects or dangers from the homeopathic remedy?
Answer: The difference between homeopathic Belladonna and the plant itself is that the homeopathic Belladonna will cure diseases which have the same symptoms as the plant Belladonna would cause.
There are no side effects from the homeopathic remedy if it is the correct remedy for the patient. Remember that if it is the correct remedy, the person will get worse for a few hours before getting better.
The danger is that giving it too long (over 3 weeks) or in the wrong dilution will eventually cause the symptoms that the Belladonna would give (poisoning).
All the best to you and your son

Question: How long does it take belladonna to kill you? I know the seeds are posionous, so let's say you ingested belladonna seeds - how long would it take for you to die? I know this is a weird question, it's for a book I'm writing.
Answer: Any part of the Belladonna plant, including the berries, leaves, and roots, can kill you, auctually. I'm not sure how long it takes, but I know that 20-30 berries will kill a child. I assume it only takes as long as it takes for the toxin, atropine, to reach the bloodstream. You are delusional almost immediately I believe, so I assume a few hours until death?
Question: I've heard that Belladonna can be used to treat nausea, I'm wonder what would be a good dose for me to start? I'm 5'1", about 130 lbs, in good overall health. I have some idiopathic nausea that can stop me from doing everyday things. I've tried some prescription stuff, but I'm more interested in a more natural approach. The Belladonna I have is homeopathic, and it's about 200C.
Answer: I would only take belladonna in a homeopathic concentration. It is safe homeopathicly because there is such a small trace of it. Never take belladonna in its herbal form unless under the strict guidance and supervision of a well trained herbalist.
I would look at the package and follow the instructions, depending on the brand of the remedy, it probably says something like five pellets dissolved under the tongue 3 times a day. I would just follow the package directions.
Homeopathic remedies are great but often need to be very specificaly chosen. It is not like one remedy for nausea cures all nausea, the best remedy really is specifically selected by the combination of symptoms and descriptions of whether it is better with movement or stillness better with heat or cold....
If you are not satisfied with the results, consult your local homeopath for guidance to a remedy more specific to you.
You may also try ginger available as fresh root, tea or pills. All can help soothe the stomach. You may also try peppermint tea.
I would also explore avoiding meat and dairy products as well as seeing if you may have some food allergies.
Often idiopathic nausea can be related to problems in the motility of the muscles within the digestive system. This may sound a little strange but belly dancing and hula hooping (you would need a hula hoop designed for grown ups the little ones at walmart don't work for most adults) are great, healthy, fun exercises that specifically target the muscles that effect digestion and reproduction.
I know many hula hoopers and belly dancers who have mentioned that their various digestive and reproductive complaints have gone away since they have started. It is worth a try and these are healthy and fun activities that are good for your body and your mood even if they don't solve the nausea problem but they may help.
Question: Is it safe to give Belladonna to toddlers? I have read that Belladonna can treat high fever, however, I could not find information whether it could be given to toddlers (2 year old). I just want to know for the future whether it is safe to give to small kids and if not why?
Many thanks.
Answer: to be honest with you i dont really know what that is i have never heard of it. so i couldnt tell you. sorry.
Question: Are social groups only in Belladonna Cove for the Sims 2 Apartment Life? I want to have apartments in Pleasantville, but I'm wondering if people from social groups will also show up in community and apartment lots there. Or do they only show up in Belladonna Cove? Thanks!
Answer: they show up everywhere! I have a family in desiderata valley and believe me theres still plenty of gearheads, jocks, socialites etc. Every n-hood spawns its own townies and these new peeps are townies so to speak.
Question: where does belladonna grow or where can i buy some? i live in alabama if that helps.? belladonna is an herb
Answer: Atropa Belladonna (also called Deadly Nightshade) is an old world plant that likes to grow in shady areas with minimal sun. You might be hard pressed to find it growing in the wild, and you'd have to be experienced in recognizing the plant by sight, which can sometimes be difficult with the many varieties of plants in this world.
You can buy the seeds online at www.horizonherbs.com which is where I have bought them, and grew them at home. (hint: refrigerate the seeds for a week or so before sprouting, as I had better luck using this method myself. They are slow to germinate.)
Be careful with this plant, as it contains alkaloids such as atropine and hyoscyamine which can be lethal in sufficient doses.
Question: What's the difference between Belladonna and Datura? I'm talking about the delirium induced states and the potency of the two. And yes, this is a serious question.
Answer: Well, I've never had either of them. But Both plants have a mix of atropine, scopolamine, hyoscyamine, and other chemicals. Belladonna tends to have more atropine and datura tends to have more scopolamine. Though the effects of both chemicals are similar it's said that atropine is more stimulating and scopolamine is more sedating. So my guess is that belladonna would cause more excitement and datura would cause more sedation. I could be wrong though as I'm not a doctor or chemist. However, I'd advise you to STAY AWAY FROM INGESTING EITHER PLANT. THEY CAN EASILY CAUSE DEATH OR MEDICAL COMPLICATIONS. Besides, I've heard that it isn't a fun trip. It's more like fever hallucinations.
Question: Can belladonna delphinium, foxglove, and lily-of-the-valley each grow in individual pots? I'd like to plant a pot of each of these on my balcony. Will they grow well if the pot is big enough?
Answer: In keeping this in mind that you want this on your balcony; foxglove is very toxic to animals and children, so I highly advise that you snip that plant in the bud, so to speak, that and it can not be planted in a planter for it grows rather tall and spreads like nothing you have ever seen.
On the other hand, belladonna delphinium, and depending on which type you choose, can be planted inside of a planter (link below). As for L.O.V., yes you can grow that in a planter, but keeping in mind that it needs shade, but never fear so does the belladonna :-)
I hope that this has helped you out hun and I bet that it will look great with those 2 plants..
Remember: Foxglove is VERY TOXIC to animals and small children as well !!!!!
Question: For the Sims 2: is there any way to combine Belladonna Cove and Pleasantview? Can my Sims in Pleasantview atleaset meet Sims in Belladonna Cove?
Or can I combine the towns together?
I want my Sims in Pleasantview to meet my Sims in Belladonna Cove. I heard you can take them, and their houses, and I can put them there that way. But I read that you shouldn't it might mess up your game.. Is that true?
Answer: There is a custom neighborhood out there which is all the Maxis starter neighborhoods rolled into one.
Scratch what I said before - Here is the Mega Hood that has BellaDonna Cove in it
http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?…
It does have some DNA problems, so a cleaned up version is here:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/in…
If you want to merge your own neighborhoods, try this tutorial, but it;s not for the faint of heart:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/in…
EDIT: You heard right. If you take a lot with sims in it and remove it from one neighborhood, to the houses/lots bin, only to place it in another neighborhood, Very Bad Things can happen.
This action causes the links between sims, friends, their memories... all of it to break a bit. The result is often corrupted neighborhood/sim files.
This was discovered early on when people wanted to put Bella Goth (Strangetown) back with Mortimer and the kids (Pleasantville).
If you read some of those links I gave you you may see references to broken DNA having to be fixed to correct merging problems.
Under normal circumstances, sims in different "main" 'hoods can't meet each other. Sims in a main hood and all it's sub-neighborhoods can meet.
Question: is there somewhere I can take my deceased birds to have them tested for belladonna posoining, cheap? I believe my neighbor poisoned my birds & I would like to prove it if possible? I just want to test for this 1 specific toxin as she has access to it & uses it also for her G>S> dogs bloat? I can't afford a whole bunch of tests but maybe if there is a test to isolate this poison in particular, I could possibly afford it. Thanks to y'all for any help or advice!
Answer: Try your nearest University. For a very low fee they will do necropsy's and testing. L.
Question: how do you tell the difference between belladonna and bittersweet vines?
Answer: Bittersweet has purple star-shaped flowers. When they are in flower the difference is very clear!
Bittersweet

Belladonna

Both are poisonous but belladonna much more so.
Question: What potion in Harry Potter is Belladonna used for? Please provide proof.? I have potions class and I can't find what Belladonna was used in. Please let me know. I have to turn in the HW soon!
Answer: It's part of the standard student potions kit. (GF, chapter 10) I don't think they actually talk about it going into a specific potion.
Question: Who else thinks that Joey Belladonna is by far, the best vocalist of the Big 4 of Thrash? I think that Joey is the greatest singer of the Big 4. I think he's the best vocalist in all of thrash metal actually. Do you also think so too, and if so why? I'm just curious.
Answer: he has the most vocal talent
he's kind of like the Bruce Dickinson of thrash metal, to me
although, I like the gruff vocals used by the other bands in the Big Four
you also have to remember that Anthrax is the only one of the Big Four that has one person designated as the singer
Araya, Mustaine, and Hetfield are primarily musicians
Question: Are there any other books similar to Belladonna by Anne Bishop in theme? It is the first time I have read of the landscaper theme.
Answer: the amber series by Roger Zelazny is very close. It's old though, and very minimalist. Also--Zelazny again, Mad Wand, Dilvish, The Changing Land, most of his hard sci-fi. Parts of old Andre Norton. Year of the unicorn. Old stuff. Mostly from the seventies. It was a popular theme for YA at that time too.
There's a new blood book with Surreal coming out.
Question: How did the top porn stars like Sasha & Belladonna rise to the top of their career and become so famous? what do u think they did specifically to set them apart from all the other hard working hot porn stars?
there are also a lot of other ethnic porn stars but none of them are famous....maybe since its america....
Answer: I can't comment on Belladonna because I haven't seen her work, but Sasha Grey is probably at the top of the profession because she's either a really good actor or she's REALLY enjoying her work. A lot of porn stars often appear jaded either because they really are not enjoying their work or because they simply can't act.
Good looking porn stars are quite common, but to really shine they have to be good actors or really committed to their work. Of all the porn stars I've seen, Sasha Grey is probably the best actor and the most committed person to the industry.
Question: is it still possible to buy belladonna eye drops to dilate pupils for cosmetic reasons?
I'm a part time model and have heard that the dilation of the pupil makes us look more attractive. I would like to use a safe drop that I can use on my photoshoots. I've read that women used to use it in Italy to look more attractive towards men but can not find any information to say whether something like that still excists.
Answer: No, it is a prescription drop and has side effects.
You can get cosmetic contact lenses with a large painted pupil. See your eye doctor
Question: How long does it take to die from Belladonna? (Nightshade)? I'm writing a short film screenplay and I need to know how long it would take the average adult to die after consuming a fair amount of the Belladonna leaf. Does anyone know this?
Oh and the movie's called "Nightshade" which I think sounds cool.
Answer: It would depend on the amount consumed and the person's metabolism.
It has been documented that ingestion of one leaf can be fatal to an average adult.

Question: is it possible to get a belladonna plant? It's been prescribed for my stomach problems, read it works for lots I read that it can be used for migraines and menopause which is right around the corner. It is an old remedy and just want to know how to get the actual plant.
Answer: I doubt it. Belladonna is extremely toxic in modest quantities, so you might accidentally take too much and hurt or even kill yourself. It's better to leave the growing and harvesting to professionals.
Your local health food store might have pills made from belladonna extract, that would be a safer way to go.
Question: What is the common name for the lily Amaryllis Belladonna? It flowers before its leaves appear.
Answer: Amaryllis belladonna has its common names, in the UK, as 'Belladonna Lilies' or 'Jersey Lily', in South Africa as 'The March Lily', in the United States as 'Naked Lady', in Portugal as 'Bordao de Sao Jose (St. Joseph's Staff), as St. Rosalina in Sicily, or St. Rosa or The Madonna Lily in Italy; and sometimes in Spain as 'Meninas Para Escola', translating to 'Girls going to School' and because they bloom in late September at the beginning of the school year, when girls in pink uniforms start attending classes.
Other known names include: Red Lily and names in relation to its flower blooming season include March Lily and August Lily.
Belladonna Lily which is a monotypic native plant of South Africa produces long, slender leaves in the spring, which die back in early summer. It is a bulbous plant with dull green leaves that are up to 1½ feet (45 cm) tall by 0.75 inch (2 cm) wide. Fragrant rosy-pink flowers appear in late summer, on 24 inch (60cm) stalks. The 4 to 6 inch (10-15cm), trumpet-shaped flowers can also be white, red, rosy red, or pink and are excellent as cut flowers, lasting about a week. Blooming time in the greenhouse is early August; in zone 7, long after the foliage has long disappeared. Plants form lovely trumpet shaped flowers on 1½ foot (45 cm) tall flower stalks. The pinkish-white to rose-red flowers are up to 4 inches (10 cm) long and are mildly fragrant.
In late summer the bulb produces one or two naked stems 30-60 cm tall, each of which bear a cluster of 2 to 12 funnel-shaped flowers at their tops. Each flower is 6-10 cm diameter with six tepals (three outer sepals, three inner petals, with similar appearance to each other), white, pink or purple in colour. This flowering pattern is the cause of its common name "naked lady".
The scientific name Amaryllis is taken from a shepherdess in Virgil's pastoral "Eclogues," from the Greek αμαρυσσω (Latin amarysso) meaning "to sparkle." It is used as a given name for females.
The story of Amaryllis Belladonna L., from a European perspective, undoubtedly goes back to the 15th century when Columbus and his crew explored the realm of the scarlet Belladonna. By the 17th century the Red Lily was apparently so well known to New World visitors that it was sometimes mentioned only in passing. Du Tertre (1667) compared it to a pale orange tulip, and drew attention to the whitish center. Rochefort (1658, 1665) also called it orange, but compared it to the Daylily of the same color. Laet and Ligon only mentioned that there were white and red lilies in Brazil and Barbados. The Red Lilies were brought to Europe and thought to be reminiscent of the sword/cross emblem of the St. Jacob Knights.
Belladonna Lilies are poisonous precautiob should be taken to ensure children do not eat them.☺
Question: Is belladonna the herb safe to use topically? My friend introduced me to an ointment that instantly can relieve pain. As soon as I rubbed it on my knees they stopped hurting and I was able to bend them easily. It is from Mexico and I do not know how safe it is, but it sure works like a miracle. It contains many herbs in a thick ointment. It smells awful but its really unbelievable.
Answer: Apparently Kim doesn't really know what he's speaking about. Belladonna, go to webmd.com and go from there but, do look into it because it can be dangerous. Especially from Mexico. There are many different types and uses, before you use any of them, check them out.
